leafsprings Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 My next build will be a 2 axle Pete, but all Pete kits are 3 axle. Should I just use the rear drive axle or use a kit with a single drive axle? Which kit has the most accurate single drive axle? Is it a Eaton or Rockwell?
Force Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 (edited) Yes just use the rear of the two drive axles and it will work fine. Edited September 30, 2019 by Force
leafsprings Posted March 8, 2020 Author Posted March 8, 2020 The standard Pete 281 axle was the R 170, much larger than the axles used in a typical dual drive kits. My conclusion is the White Freightliner SD is the only kit that came with the big R 170 23,000 lb axle. I'll be using the kits spring suspension also. The Ford C 900, the only other single drive kit, must have a smaller 22,000 lb Eaton.
