Very cool!

Except for the glass, which is all wretched, that's not a bad kit at all. It was sort of a "Pro Modeler" kit of its day, with full engine (motorized in some issues!), movable control surfaces, retracting landing gear, and even somewhat of a cockpit. And it's actual 1/48, unlike the Monogram, which is closer to 1/50 (probably to fit their standard box of the time). I've had one of these I've been meaning to get to for decades. I'll be watching your progress. Drive on! B)

Shaping up nicely! My nearby Ollie's has these for $7.99 right now, so I'm glad to see what's in the box before I jump! This doesn't look bad at all, and your build is particularly clean; I really like the Atlantic color scheme.

You all are right on the price! 5 bucks for the Avenger, the 7.99  price was for the 1/48 XF-88 VooDoo, the F-8 Crusader, and a couple others that escape me now. I passed on the ships, Lindberg's WWII heavy ships are quite crude (I learned the hard way last year). Did score a nice 1/24 37 Ford hot rod for the engine/chassis setup.

Your Avenger is looking really nice! Did you use the kit decals?
