This is the Tamiya's F-2001. The kit was decent but the decals sucked. Had to get replacements for them from the manufacturer and still had problems with their cracking as soon as they were dipped in the water. But I made it work. I did this for a friend who is a BIG Micheal Schumacher fan and a Ferrari fan. Mixed up a batch of pink paint for the undercoat and primer. Then shot Tamiiya's TS-49 Red over the top through an airbrush. I have some slight issues of warpage with the rear engine cover, which I tried to straighten out as much as possible. Feel free to comment.

Real nice job. I'm a big Schumi fan, I have almost all his champiomship cars in kit form. The Tamiya kits are the best. I bought some aftermarket decals that included the Marlboro logos, they are a higher quality decal.

Thanks for the comments. This is the second I built. The first one I did use the Marlboro decals and convert it into the 2002 car that they ran at the beginning of the season. I ended up giving it away. Now I wish I hadn't.

Nice work on your Ferrari it really looks good, for what Tamiya charges for their kits the decals and and the fit should be perfect.

Nice Ferrari! It looks great.

That is 1/20, right?

There is a conspiracy in F1 model decals! :( Revell Germany F1 kits have some of the worst decals I've ever used. I used 2 sets and gallons of decal solvent in my Villeneuve's car and still have problems. :D

Thanks,

I think the issues with the decals for my kit were caused by the way they were stored at the place from where I bought the kit. The place gets very hot and very cold, which could have caused the issues with the decals. I've had this happen with Tamila's decals with quite a few of their older kits. As soon as I dipped it in the water, hairline cracks showed up everywhere and then the decal falls apart. The setting solution doesn't even help. But I've had good luck with Tamiya sending replacement decals at no charge so I'm pretty sure they know about this issue. But I was able to make mine work with the two sets I had. The white decal was my biggest issue on the engine cover. You can see that some of the black on the border of the white is kind of wavy. Tried to hand paint it in as best as I could. Thanks for everyone taking a look.
