Tim H Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 (edited) I am needing some information for our Mopar gurus. I have some questions: When did Mopar's Direct Connection began? What was the Mopar parts called in the Muscle car years? 64-73 (If not Direct Connection) What was the name of the Mopar performance skunk works in Detroit? Was it Ramchargers? Was the 71 Road Runner available with body colored bumpers? ( Maybe with the hi impact paint colors) These questions relate to a model project I am planning/working on. Thanks for the info guys. 1972coronet Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Direct Connection launched in 1972 . Previously it was called Hustle Stuff . Direct Connection lasted-in-name from 1972-1988 or 1989 . The Ramchargers were employees whom had a club which worked on side projects / engineering projects on their own time . 1971 Road Runner's elastomeric bumpers were available in limited colours ( to mind right off : Tor-Red [ Hemi Orange] ; FE5 red ; GB5 blue [and maybe GB7 blue] ; GY3 yellow ; FY1 yellow ; GW3 white ) .

Tim Tim, in addition to the info in John's detailed response, questions like this can often be answered by going through the factory to dealer communications back in the day that are posted at the hamtramck reqistry. Some really fascinating stuff in there, including mid-year equipment, pant and trim revisions. Good luck with your '71 Road Runner (one of my all time favorites) project and please post the result here in the forums when you are done....TIM
gtx6970 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Not sure the beginning years/ years . But prior to Mopar Perf. it was called Hustle stuff I believe Skunk works ? Mopar had several off the record places/people they supplied parts to. Some well known ,,,,some not. Think Jimmy Addison fame for one. ( aka the Silver Bullet builder ) Yes, the 1971 Roadrunner had a urethane covered body colored front bumper. Im pretty sure a rear was avail as well
