Lownslow Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 my dad owned one like this and a Toyostang. i killed the toyostang learning to drive it my dad killed the 85 a few years before i moved to the states. when i went back he gave me his 87 sr5 that got stolen the day i registered it. my brother got me another 87 but i was too depressed to try again in 04 that one got stolen without the engine. my dad right now has a Cuchillo 1.8(chopped 4 door wagon) and a Mitsubishi Technica replica of my godmothers celica GT
Nick F40 Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Nice Celica. Do you realize how much I want an 86 Corolla? Chris, the orange one with the black stripes is an RX3 but the orange one with the black left front fender is a Corolla
Lownslow Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Nice Celica. Do you realize how much I want an 86 Corolla? Chris, the orange one with the black stripes is an RX3 but the orange one with the black left front fender is a Corolla we always were Toyota but we love Rotarys my dads shortened 1.8 has a 13b i got 2 of them waiting for me in Barrancas P.R. under lock and key a rare 85 Hatchback and a 87 Twin Cam. some aholes broke the glass on the hatchback before they were locked up in storage im going there in november to check them out and figure out the logistics of shipping them to florida.

BKIN10SECS Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 (edited) Never ever sleep on them guys in PR. I have seen many a car built in PR, in person, in mags and on the web and I will say they all seem to share the same trait...they have "THE LOOK". I had the pleasure of seeing Carlos Bug in person at the NNL East, it was my favorite model at the show. I found myself going back to view this car over and over again. As far as Old School Import Drag Cars are concerned no one builds them better then the guys in PR. That white first gen rx-7 is sweeeet, love the blue Corolla, I think when Fujimi put out the TE-27 Levin they declared a national holiday in PR . I was wondering....there was this model, it made many rounds in the shows got lots of coverage. I think the builder started with a Doyusha Sunny 1200 hatch, scratch built the roof and trunk and made it a notch. It was purple in color with some graphics (a drag car of course) it had something racing on the side (can't remeber the name) and it was bad a**. I was wondering if this car was ever casted or how I may get one, any info would help. Anyways I just wanted to pay mad props to the guys in PR. I look forward to seeing pics of this years show...it has become one of my favorite shows of the year. Here is my lil contribution, was built many years ago. Edited October 5, 2008 by BKIN10SECS

Hello Ray about the 1200 notchback it is going to be casted as soon as I get the hatch back done. http://public.fotki.com/modelnut/datsun1200/ The hatchback should be available by the end of Oct. That notch you talk about was made my Carlos De Jesus also he made it for some guy in PR. Carlos is also the guy that made the master for the hatchback that I am bringing out.

Bluzboy66 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Here's a pic of Carlos de Jesus (sitting) at a little get together we had in Puerto Rico a couple years ago. In the pic is Rogelio (can't remember his last name ) Miguel Barbosa (green shirt), and myself holding the 'Vette. You can see his Bug and some of his other builds that were there............ Carlos does fantastic work and he's also very humble about it! I think Roberto Fanfan took this pic as it came originally from his Fotki.............he brought some fantastic models that day too! Now, hold on........take a look at the table. I know you guys probably didn't mean to, but you created an awesome 1:24/25 scale car show! Imagine pulling into the local shopping center, and seeing that sick display of classic muscle sitting there! NICE. Mike
Bluzboy66 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) Cruz, that Bug is sick......just sick. And I'd forgotten how good looking those old Toyotas, Mazdas and Datsuns were. Hmmmmm, might have to find me one of those kits. Sure gets the creative juices flowing. Thanks for sharing, Mike Edited October 6, 2008 by Bluzboy66

Thanks for sharing, Mike Good to hear from you Mike, the bug is from the Tamiya VW, best VW kit out in the market. Carlos de Jesus is an incredibly talented individual, very creative. I call him the Puerto Rican Bill Geary!!! The stuff he does to his models is unreal as he is a perfectionist!!! He is the reason I started building again.......

Also there was a R100 wagon in the show that was completely scratch built. Ariel

Everything else is pretty much the same as the hatchback. Edited October 7, 2008 by Ariel

Instead of US vs. PR and PR always beating us we will previal!, but have it PR against Australia and New Zealand...OH YEAH!!! Well Nick This year in the PanAm Nationals held in ATCO NJ every July. PR has always walk away with the gold. Except for this past July the US team took the Gold. Some guy from Florida. Of course the car was built and tuned by a guy from PR. PR has been to Australia for a race and walked away with the gold. Rotorys in Australia are adapted to anything. I have seen even BMW with rotary power drag racing down under.
Ariel Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Hey next year we can make it a class trip to PR for the show. We will do what we did with Jairus and Gregg. After a great day of tourist attractions. We head down to the south of the Island to Salinas Raceway. You will see a RX-8 do 6.87 sec down the 1/4 and be as amazed as Gregg and Jairus was. So lets get together down their. Save your pennies up. If we get a group large enough the organizer of the show can get a really good deal on hotel rooms. Next year it will be on its usual date in Nov. It was moved up because of the elections in Nov. this year.
