CAL Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 Me too and this would be interesting, good amount of boost! That's baby boost for Porsche 917/30 ran 2.8 bar or 40psi ! Last time Porsche got involved in Indy it was bad, bad news, bad idea.
Brendan Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 That's actually not a lot of boost. It's only about 22 PSI. Most race cars nowadays run at 40 PSI or higher. The Indy cars used to run close to 60 in qualifying.
Brendan Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I bet that this is the motor that they're going to be using in their P2 cars as well. The motor they have in there right now will be illegal in two years. So I bet they're going to a smaller turbo charged V-8.

What I read is in addition they were dropping two cylinders from the current configuration as well.
58 Impala Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 I hope they stay with a V8 configuration. I like the sound of all 8 screaming at 10,000rpm.
