Monty Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 I don't know a thing about doing this except it's apparently a good idea to shoot over a similarly colored base since nail polish isn't all that opaque. If that's the case, what do you think the result would be if I airbrushed one of the really sharp red nail polishes over red oxide primer. (I haven't bought any nail polish yet & probably won't until I know more about shooting it, so no spoon tests)
Snake45 Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 If you want a bright red, don't airbrush it over red oxide, airbrush it over white or yellow. You probably won't find a yellow primer that will stand up to nail polish, so white it is. At least spoon-test white primer vs your red oxide. And all nail polish doesn't have opaquity problems. That's mainly with the pearls and so forth. Some of the solid colors are pretty, well, solid. But as always, every paint job is a law unto itself. There is no substitute for doing your own testing and experimenting.
