Rookie mistakes

Since the subject of stripping paint with alcohol is being discussed, I’m assuming it’s isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Since this stuff In 70% is almost like unobtainium these days much less 90%, would denatured alcohol work as a substitute. I can find plenty of this stuff in the hardware store in 95%!

My local hardware store had several gallon cans of 99% IPA (IsoPropyl Alcohol, and India Pale Ale ) in stock.  I was surprised myself, but since I have couple of gallons in my stash, I didn't buy another one.

Welcome to the hobby. I've been building for around 30 years and I'm still learning. Your question has been answered pretty much with the same answers I would give. Except maybe saying easy off oven cleaner in the yellow can removes paint too. I sometimes use primer, and sometimes I don't. This Mack cab was painted early this morning with a lacquer paint. One coat no primer.

I’m trying the no primer approach on my next build james my Revell 359 Pete is on the back burner lots of painting errors etc so I boxed it up and after my next 3 builds I’m gonna strip it and start over. Thanks for your input. Mike

Your cab looks amazing James very clean. You airbrush or rattle can? Mike

Looking pretty good there. I have one of those same kits to build too. I'll get to it after I finish the Mack. In the meantime here's two of my older builds.
