I’ve been away from the bench for a while, but plan on getting some of my WIP projects done real soon. Been busy with house things.
I was wondering if there is a decent Hemi offered in 1:24 scale? Just pondering a 1970 Hemi Roadrunner in the near future. I have a few in 1:25 scale, and even a few extra Moebius Hemi engines lying around, but all are 1:25. Any help as always much appreciated.

Thing is, "scaling" of engines and other greasy bits is generally so sloppy that just because an engine is in a kit that's nominally 1/24 or 1/25, that doesn't necessarily make it accurate.

I've encountered incorrectly scaled engines and components so many times, I've just about quit caring. It's simply impossible to make them all correct.

If I were you, I'd measure all the rocker covers in the stash with digital calipers. There will be measurable differences from kit to kit; I'd use the largest one for 1/24, and let it go.

The dimension for a Gen II 426 Hemi block from the rear face to the front is shown as being 23.625"

In 1/24, that's .954 actual.

In 1/24, it's .984.

Are you, or most people anyway, really going to notice a .030" discrepancy in the length of the completed engine?

Thanks Guido, and Bill.
Good idea on measuring the valve cover. I suppose the engine being slightly off would not be a big deal, as compared to tires, and wheels,
Good advice.

The 426 Hemi that's in the 1971 Hemi 'Cuda kits (dating from 1982 !) can be made to look decent . Ditch the kit's carburetors ( I believe that Fireball has AFB carburetors)  ; add an oil filtre (same location as your typical Chrysler big block) , and ; add a breather ( passenger-side , 1970-1971 ) and a PVC valve . It'll look nice with those fixes .

Thanks John. That’s one thing I do have is many fantastic carbs from Fireball. I have Hemi, max wedge, and various other Holley carbs.
Im just gonna build the best Hemi I can with the parts I already have. I’ll strip the covers and go with the black look. All I might have to buy is decals for the air cleaner.

No problem!!..... ?

Good luck with the project... I have those kits also and plan on switching motors in both kits.... A six pack 440 '71 Cuda should be interesting.... ?

Crankcase Breathers are on the passenger-side 'cover , 1970 model year & later . This was part of the evapouritive emissions ( VOC's ) system which included a sealed fuel vapour vent system .
