Vietnam Vet67 Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Looking for some screws that hold the chassis to the body on 1/24 scale NASCAR die cast cars. They are either Action or Lionel or Team Caliber. Over the years I have picked up some used cars on Ebay, etc and lots of times they are missing a screw so I am trying to dig up around 6 of them. I went to my Ace Hardware and the smallest they have is 4-40 so I need the next size down whatever that is. They are 1/4" long. Any ideas. I wrote to Lionel and they are out of the office till the end of August.
peteski Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Are those regular machine screws or self-tapping, or sheet-metal type screws? My hardware store has screws down to 0-80 size. I have some down to 0000-160 size. In your case the next size would probably be 2-56. Those should be available in hobby shops. Are you sure those screws aren't metric? Usually Chinese-made products use metric sizes. https://www.microfasteners.com/ carries wide range of screws.
