I’m glad you’re so intrigued with this truck makes me feel my efforts on this build is pay off. 2
Biggu Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I am intrigued. It is a good study of classic old school iron. It has some personality unlike some of the cookie cutter trucks of today. And I am looking for new fresh ideas too 😁

You have so many great builds I was disappointed when I seen you haven’t been working on “Caboverdose” Hope to have this done soon not much left. I must have looked at one of the earlier pictures over the air cleaner, all I saw was the hole in the hood! I am showing my age, I tell people that I'm just glad to be "upright and watertight" nowadays! I think I'm still finding my feet in my new workshop and I'm scared of ruining Caboverdose, I've put that much effort into it. My workshop is at the back of my garage and the garage is full of materials to do work on the house. It will get there though, I'm determined. Thanks for remembering the build though. I sometimes get it and sit it on the table in front of me when I'm having my breakfast, it aids digestion. Edited October 14 by Rockford 3
Pete68 Posted October 14 Author Posted October 14 (edited) It’s ok Steve I understand what you’re saying. I hope you can get your to know your shop soon I’m sure that’s frustrating for you. I’m hoping for some updates soon on this not much to go then it’s done. Edited October 14 by Pete68 2 1
Pete68 Posted October 15 Author Posted October 15 Had a little bench time tonight. I hand painted the side boards, repainted by hand the Tanks and steps, Air cleaner and the Luberfiner. Maybe I’ll get more done tomorrow night. 5
Biggu Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Woe be tied the sloppy loader operator to crunch those new side boards ! 😉 They look really good. Helps to finish up the box nicely. 1
Rockford Posted October 15 Posted October 15 We called them "greedy boards" when i was on tippers in the UK. 3
BK9300 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Nice progress with the paint refreshing, Pete. Can’t tell if it’s the lighting, but did you highlight all the rivets on your hood skirts? Now that’s a steady hand, for sure! 1

Fun how you guys over the pond has different name for the same thing here. I’ve never heard them call that Steve you learn something every day thanks. I’ve heard of Tippers because of the little Matchbox dump trucks. 1

I might try it. Thanks for the reminder. If you want to see some of my model Railroads Ho Scale and O scale I think it’s here somewhere 😂. Scott thanks for stopping by I appreciate it. 2
Pete68 Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 (edited) Did some more work early this morning on the Acar Dump Truck. I painted the headlights, engine fan, radiator stroud. Painted and added the hood hinges. Then I decided to make a Pintle Hitch out of the front dump bed mudflap and the taillights. The Pintle hook is from the AMT Logging trailer. Biggu Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Good call on using that ‘steel’ flap as a pintle plate. I never would have thought of that. Under a splash of paint that will look perfect. I may have to use that idea. The truck looks to be a real old school hard worker. I really like where this is going. 1

I just thought of that idea this morning. I have to add a crossmember to the rear of the frame to attach the Hitch. 1
Pete68 Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 Well I’m calling it a day on this. Tomorrow I’ll be adding the pintle hitch and adding some spreader chains made from a necklace my daughter had. Yes I asked if she had an old one she didn’t wear 😂 4
Pete68 Posted October 21 Author Posted October 21 Here’s some updates I did over the weekend not much but inching towards the finish line. Added a rear crossmenber, Pintle Hitch and Mudflats. 3
Biggu Posted October 21 Posted October 21 That pintle plate and pintle look PERFECT ! Excellent idea using that flap. Looks like it was custom cut. Top drawer ! 1
Scott Eriksen Posted October 22 Posted October 22 ....................every time I see the AMT Cummins engine, I'm reminded of how many times back in the day I snapped the cover bolts off those Perry Coolant Filter housings ,,,,lol 1 1
BK9300 Posted Thursday at 02:47 AM Posted Thursday at 02:47 AM Pintle hitch looks good, Lee and the spreader chains are going to be a cool addon, too! 1
