I had an idea while I was taking a class for work (I know got to pay attention), about instead of doing a single cab Lightning, dowing a crew cab.

What I am asking for is either a description on what to or a picture of how to do it. Or both. Or a direction to another post that eplains it.

Any help would be apprecitated. Thanks.

Ok guys, I sat down and looked at it. It wouldnt look right. Now if I had an extended cab it would be better.

isn't the harly Davidson Edition model an extended cab? perhaps you could get one of those & mix & match?
the harley edition is very few and far between, but it is basically a lightning in diguise. it has everything the lightning does, including the body kit. all i can say is EBAY

Well, i guess the best option is to use 2 kits to get crewcab

That's how I did...

First, you must have all 1:1 car measures to start planning where to cut both bodies...

Then, cut the bodies with a nice little saw and if possible, also use a square.

After that, all you have to do is glue together both sides of the bodies and lock it with good clamps. That's a very important thing, because a good clamp (large enough) will make the sides align and avoid extra putty/sanding work.

Make sure the both kits are in very well condition… I mean, nothing harm, curved, etc.

I jumped this step and have to fill with putty… my bad! B) (see photo #1)

That's what I did and there's the result so far….

looks good so far, i shortened a monogram cab years ago to make my actual F150. that was a nightmare initself

relook at the top of your model, i saw from the pictures, the seam/difference right away, if you enter it in a contest the expierienced judges will pick it out real fast. primer shows and helps guide you, paint when shot "ENHANCES" any mistakes

i found that when i sand to use a sanding sponge block, and soapy water , i usually use water and dawn, it gives the wet sand, and the oily slide at same time, and works well

good luck

Hi Bill...

It’s true... good eyes!

it’s because the putty I used is not a good one… that motherf*** retracted a lot…

unfortunately, this project is in standby…I’m working in others projects right now.. but this on specifically is one of my favorites… Besides crewcab modification, I’m also intend to create ’99 Escalade front grille in order to replace the stock grille and lights and change the original interior to a ’64 Impala complete interior…

That's my inspiration:

As I said, this project and much others are in stand by.. I’m about to be a father… my son will born next month and all my attentions are pointed to him and my wife…

Sorry not help you right now… I’m intend to make copies of this body, but without certain date yet… If you can wait.. good… But I prefer you try it… seems difficult but it’s not! Follow this simples steps and you will get a nice crewcab from your own hands!!

There are 2 OOP AMT kits, Chevy C3500 Dooley, and it's custom version, C3500 Street machine. Ebay is about the only option, quite a few on there right now. I picked up 2 (sealed) for $24 shipped about a month ago.

There is a guy on ebay that frequently has a similar vintage resin Chevy crewcab for sale, usually goes for $40-50.
