JamesW
If anyone hasn't tried this, it is AWESOME found at Michaels for $6.49 for a 12oz can. 1 coat dries in 1 hour to a HIGH GLOSS shine, haven't tried a second coat yet.
GOTH KUSTOMS
Hay Grim is Michael's the only place you have found that clear?
JamesW
Yup, but do a yahoo search, you may find it somewhere else, I'm guessing any craft store will have it. Here's some pics. JamesW
Have you tried it over pure white???? I am curious as to the yellow factor of the clear. DJhaven't tried it over white, but the can clearly states that it's non-yellowing, so i don't know
JamesW
After seeing this post by James I was intrigued by the shine so I ran out to Micheals with 40% coupon in hand and bought a can.I sprayed a white roof from the Coupster kit at 11:00am and checked back on it at 4:45pm and so far there is no yellowing whatsoever.I did find however that while spraying it that it comes out with a lot of pressure,so be careful. Here is a pic of what I'm talking about. Thanks James for leading me on to the paint.I also bought a can of satin blue to use on something, stay tuned.By the way I did'nt pay attention to the drying time but it was dry just like the Tamiya paints are so I imagine it's just a couple of hours. No prob, I figured if the stuff is good, let everyone else in on my "secret" lol. I've heard that Valspar actually makes House of Kolor, so it should be a great paint. I used their gloss white when I repainted my Brookfield dually. Laid out great, so I figured I'd check to see if they had a clear, lucky me I found it. P.S., I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who utilizes the 40% off coupon. LOL Edited November 23, 2008 by grimreaper
E St. Kruiser50
Hi all Thanks for this thread. I don't use enamels, but I do use Valspars HOK Urethanes. Has anyone tried sanding and rubbing the clear enamel out, to get a super smooth finish. It looks good out of the can, but I rub everything out. Maybe someone could let me know. Much appreciated - Dave
GMP440
How long is the drying time? Does it flow pretty good to?
JamesW
Here is the pic of where the yellowing showed up. That sucks, but I guess I'm lucky because I don't paint ANYTHING white, I hate white, lol. Gotta have color.
JamesW
James I don't really like white that much either, unless it's Pearl White.I usually just do interiors white if that's what I'm going with and you don't gloss a white interior.I'm going to do other tests on other colors to see if theirs any effect on those otherwise the Gloss Clear may be used for other reasons, such as engine blocks and frames. There's still no change on the red test hood I cleared. Still looks good.
