Ric Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 (edited) Hello. I need to build a set of zoomie headers to fit a funny car engine into the '66 Pro Street Nova in 1/24th scale. How would I open the ends of the solder wire to make it look like tubing? The zoomies currently exit right into the front wheel wells. I need them to exit behind the wheel wells just in front of the doors. In the enclosed photo, I set the engine way back, but I'd rather not if I can replace the headers Edited November 23, 2020 by Ric Added more information
Steamboat Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 You might be able to glue bits of a coffee stirrer onto the solder. I've used it before to make tail pipes.
Fat Brian Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 You should be able to drill out the tips of the wire with a small drill bit. Get yourself a pin vise and set of small drill bits, you'll find a hundred uses for them. Go slow when drilling the tips so you don't expand the end of the solder.
Ric Posted November 23, 2020 Author Posted November 23, 2020 Thanks a bunch for the tips guys. This is the first time that I've modified a model car this much.
