THarrison351 Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 I picked this up a week ago. As found, the 2002 truck from Action was compromised in the looks by having the windows cast with detail, but never painted. Also, the interior only had a painted shifter and fire extinguisher, which was mostly hidden by the seat. The thing was, Action could have cast the interior parts in all black plastic or painted the seat, steering wheel and dash flat black and that would have made all the difference. I would not have bothered with painting this diecast if it was rare or collectible. As it is, many sale for cheap and are not in high demand. Just 5 screws held it together and some easily separated glue joints. It looks much better to me and I'm ready to display it. I've posted this in diecasts, but if the Mods feel it should be in NASCAR, I'm fine with moving it. Pre-painting: I just added three colors, black, silver, and red. Thanks for looking!
THarrison351 Posted December 2, 2020 Author Posted December 2, 2020 (edited) Thanks Randy. When I was putting all my cars back on display, I noticed how many old Action, Racing Champions, and Winners Circle have left the windows unpainted. Now that almost all of them are virtually worthless, I may start disassembling them and detailing them to make them look better. Edited December 2, 2020 by THarrison351
randyc Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Yeah, may as well. Man that market surely has tanked. When I owned a hobby shop, we were selling Action almost as fast as we could get them. And for good money. I still have the 1/18 2001 Corvette C5R Dale Earnhardt etc car. The clean first issue. Shoulda sold it years ago. But I do like the model even though it's in box right now. But I could sell it and not miss it as well.
kilrathy10 Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 (edited) This does look way better with the little extra detail you've added... I do see quite a few of these on ebay, these days, for not a lot of money... Just may have to pick out one of these for my collection... Edited December 15, 2020 by kilrathy10
