Idea was to convert it to 2wd and add a 440 Six Pack. I'm using a Monogram 1969 Dodge Charger as a donor. I've sprayed some parts in Testor's Extreme Lacquer Fiery Orange. I'm not sold on the color just yet. When mocking up the rear axle, I noticed that the center section was offset to one side. Decided to drill out the springs and center section to 3/32 and add aluminum tubing for the axle. I'm using the Charger K-member to get the front end low. The rear springs are mounted in board for tire clearance. I modified the Jeep hood for the Six Pack scoop. Removed rear window louver for a true back window.

In the early '80s my dad owned a '65 2WD Gladiator powered by the OHC six. It sat about 3 or 4 inches higher than a 4WD, and had a straight axle (and I mean absolutely straight) about 3 inches in diameter with 16 inch rims and poverty caps.  Hope this info helps.

Great start on a cool idea. BTW the axle should be a Dana 44(squared off cover) or AMC 20(round cover)and they are offset on the real truck. The way the transfer case was made the 2 drive shafts exited from the bottom on the same side. The later Cherokee and Wagoneers were the same.
