Toys4Don2 Posted September 19, 2021 Posted September 19, 2021 I am very late to this party, but man what a neat concept for modifying the hauler. Will definitely be following this one to the end!

Bills72sj Posted May 13, 2022 Author Posted May 13, 2022 I did not realize that it has been 8 months since I reported any progress. The delay has been I have been procrastinating masking my ambitious paint scheme. I finally pushed myself to finish it and got it in paint today. I knew I wanted dark metallic blue for the primary color. I checked my inventory and did not want to use any of the rattle cans I have. I decided to be brave and try something new. I took two different Testors bottled metallic enamels and mixed them together. I added some lacquer thinner to them in a 1:1 ratio. I fed my airbrush and shot a plastic spoon. I liked the resulting color and loved the gloss. I shot the hood, cab, and sleeper. Then, while painting the box, I ran out of paint 80% of the way through, BUMMER! I had to search ebay to find a vendor that had both colors in stock. Now that Testors line of paints have been terminated, I decided to grab a few more colors. I ended up ordering 17 bottles for $51.12 including shipping. At $3 a bottle to get exactly what I want, I am not complaining. Hopefully the new remix will match in color.
Mopar - D Posted May 14, 2022 Posted May 14, 2022 Nice color blue Bill. I hope you are able too match your color when you get your new paint order.

Bills72sj Posted June 5, 2022 Author Posted June 5, 2022 Been plugging away at this "learning experience". Had to do a lot of little touch ups. Got the red stripe painted on as well. Used 90% of a new sheet of BMF due to all the diamond plate that needed covered. 1

Bills72sj Posted June 5, 2022 Author Posted June 5, 2022 Here are some pics of wide swaths of BMF going over the diamond plate decks.
Mopar - D Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Looks great Bill I’ve done small sections of Diamond plate and it’s very time consuming looking forward to seeing it all done.
Bills72sj Posted June 12, 2022 Author Posted June 12, 2022 (edited) I was contemplating what livery and/or contingency decals to put on it to "decorate" this cake. I came up with the idea of most the products and vendors I have used in the past. So I spent some time and made all the decals from scratch. This is my artwork files dropped on a scanned pic of the hauler. This is the layout as planned. This is the actual layout after experimenting with the decals as printed. Mopar - D Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 I like it Bill! Looks awesome with the model suppliers logos. There’s one more old suppler you could add JoHan if you want to.

Bills72sj Posted June 22, 2022 Author Posted June 22, 2022 I got my Warn winch assembled and installed. I used a brush technique to get a hammertone finish and faked the decals with some ultra fine point Sharpies.
Bills72sj Posted June 26, 2022 Author Posted June 26, 2022 Finally finished detailing and clear coating all the various body parts. The photoetched grille turned out nice. Final assembly coming soon.
Bills72sj Posted July 13, 2022 Author Posted July 13, 2022 For those of you following, it is finally done.
