BigPoppa Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmoma1437 Good feedback, anyone here buy from him? I'm looking at the truck topper, haven't been able to get my hands on a plastic one, so I may give this one a shot
LDO Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Truck topper? Just scratchbuild it. It's just a box. The hardest part is getting the 90 degree angles. There are clamps made just for this, however. I got mine at King's Hobby in Austin, TX. Give them a call at 512-836-7388.
Eshaver Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 I'm going to let others buy first . Personally I distrust deBay as much or more dan de Government . Thats just my take on the issue Ed Shaver
Rob Hall Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 First I've heard of them, but they have 100% positive feedback on 256 txns in the last year, their stuff looks pretty good and is cheap, I'd try them.
RyanSilva Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Stuff looks pretty good. I thought about trying them aswell, shipping looks a little high on those tiny items..i mean they could be shipped ina padded insulated envelope for 1.50..so order a few items to make the most of it! (Shipping price on the larger items though is cheap!) sorry just a petpeave of mine hehe (im not complaining..honest)
JamesW Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 go for it, i bought from him before, good work
Mark Brown Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I got mine at King's Hobby in Austin, TX. Give them a call at 512-836-7388. Don't wait too long if you're going to order from King's - they're closing their doors at the end of the year.
jeffb Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 if you ship via usps online, the minimun charge is 4.80, with priority mail. the guys i work with use it, and seem to like it. i use the atc at the post office. i charge 7.50 s&h. sometimes its 5.00..sometimes its 9.50. i have to average it out as i dont know the actual amount till i use the atc. shipping aint cheap.
LDO Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Don't wait too long if you're going to order from King's - they're closing their doors at the end of the year. I know. It's terrible.
Mark Brown Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I know. It's terrible. Actually, it may not be definite bad news. I was in there yesterday and they told me that the owner is selling and looking for a buyer to keep the place open. The guy I spoke with said that they've had a few good bites and he sounded fairly optimistic about the chances that a buyer will be found. So, keep your fingers crossed!
BigPoppa Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 Don't wait too long if you're going to order from King's - they're closing their doors at the end of the year. What's this got to do with anything? King's stocks this or something?
Mark Brown Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 What's this got to do with anything? King's stocks this or something? Sorry - didn't mean to hjack your thread.
BigPoppa Posted November 24, 2008 Author Posted November 24, 2008 Sorry - didn't mean to hjack your thread. It's all good, I skipped over the post about making your own and referencing that hobby shop for the clamps. Not hijacked, more like took a wrong turn and had to come back
LDO Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 BigPoppa- I don't have photos of the clamps, but here's a cargo box I made for a model work truck. The clamps were a huge help. Just glue one joint at a time, then add bracing. Use thick sheet plastic, too. It may take a couple of tries, but it's not impossible. Hey- someone has to build the masters for all those resin kits.
thomas LB808 Labanon Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I bought those tendem trailer fenders. Casting was flawless. And shipping was fast, even to hawaii. I'd say go for IT.
Wildrice Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Good stuff. I bought from him at the Atlanta NNL Show last year.
