MrObsessive Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Ok......I recently got a resin kit that I have to say the plating on the bumper is-----less than stellar. To my eyes, the plating could stand to be stripped off and redone. I've not tried stripping plating on aftermarket resin parts before......only on factory made plastic kits with much success. Has anyone ever stripped chrome plating off of a resin part and if so, what did you use? Any pitfalls? I thought about using the yellow can Easy Off Oven Cleaner, but I'm not so sure that will do the job effectively without going through a lot of drama. Thanks in advance for any info folks!
Plowboy Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 (edited) I stripped a couple of bumpers in LA's Totally Awesome!!! once with good results. Stripped them clean with no effect on the resin. You can find it in any Dollar General store. Don't buy the spray bottle as it's diluted. Get the half gallon jug. It's only around $3. Edited February 7, 2021 by Plowboy
MrObsessive Posted February 7, 2021 Author Posted February 7, 2021 Thanks a lot Roger! There's a Dollar General literally only four miles from me. On my way home from work tomorrow morning, I'll stop in and see if they have it. I'd go now, but it's snowing here............again.
