FLHCAHZ Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 I picked up a sheet of BMF at the hobby shop and am going to try to do the window trim on the 69 Country Charger I am building. Should I cut a piece big enough to cover the whole window opening to do it all in one piece, or can I do 4 thinner pieces to frame it in? any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated chaz
TransAmMike Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 I'd guess there will be a few opinions on this, I just do strips myself Chaz. Did'nt know you had another model in progress.

Did you get my pm about the decals? You should have them in the next couple days
Erik Smith Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Depends. How accurate do you want it to be? Do you mind wasting BMF? If you look closely at the actual trim, there are actually some seams that you can imitate. On the 69 Charger, for instance, there is a separate trim piece on the C pillar, so you could do a small BMF square in the C pillar angle and strips above and below. I usually try to do it like that to avoid one big piece of BMF that wastes all the foil in the center when removed.

There really is no drip rails, and I certainly dont have the skills to fabricate them. I'm going to focus on the windshield and back window trim and see how it goes, if I am ok with it, I might try the vent windows, but the molding lines are not that great.

So far looks like a consensus on the strips, no point in wasting. I've had a strip break while applying it and I just cut the broken piece square at the end and put it on. Really, when you overlap a piece and burnish it down good, it's hard to see the "seam". As for the decals, I thought I replied about you sending them, I see the mail person is delivering the mail as I type this. Will check in a bit. Thanks again.

I checked out the Charger and made a suggestion about the foiling. Use masking tape as a guide, it works.
