Not sure if I've asked this before, but has anybody had any issues with getting the hood to fit correctly on the Revell 1957 Chevy 150 Black Widow kit? What is the best way to do so without having to strip the paint off of the body? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

This has come up in the past, and there does seem to be a small fitment problem in that area. I'm sure others will respond with what their solution was. What I did was to test fit the front end together including the Grill, Hood, and the Hood molding. First I got the Grill and front Fenders taped together and this will have a very small amount of adjustment for the width of the opening for the Hood. The Hood usually comes out just a fraction wider than the distance between the Fenders. A very small amount of sanding along the sides of the front part of the Hood where it starts to turn down toward the Grill is all that is needed. The chrome molding on the bottom edge of the Grill will also need very little removed from the ends so that it will clear the Grill opening. The ends of this molding can be touched up with a Molotow pen.

Is this a problem with all the "new tool" Revell '57 Chevy kits????...

The kit I'm building is the first release of the Black Widow from 2009.

I have only had this problem with the Black Widow editions. I have built the Bel Air two door post kit and had no problems. The Bel Air kit was the first one released as I recall. This doesn't seem to make since to me but the fit on the Black Widow bodies are somehow just enough different that builders have had issues with it. My Black Widow kit was one of the first early issued kits as well and whether or not that is the problem is any ones guess.

Wow has it been that long????..... I bought mine also when it came out back then... I opened the box and checked out all the goodies and then put it away.... Yep! It's another one of those "some day" when I get a chance to build it kits....??
