drsnake712 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 I have a Maisto 1950 Chevy 5100 truck i would like to repaint. How hard are the bodies to get off ? Is this more trouble than it is worth ?
Snake45 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Dunno about your particular truck, but I've taken the bodies off dozens of diecasts (to detail them) and put them back on with no problems whatsoever. Only problem I've ever had with diecast disassembly is getting some of the wheels off the axles. I've had to actually cut the metal axle in half on a couple. Oh, and once in a while the windows are held in place by a rivet that's hard to grind out, but so far I've been able to overcome.
Brian Austin Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 One known trick is to touch a soldering iron to the axle near the wheel just enough to loosen it.
