Travis Waits Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Shell Tanker In the background of this picture is something I have started on but have limited photos of the subject. Has anyone here ever did a project of this nature? My dad drove for a Shell Co for 40 years at the same company but all I have are black and whites along with memories. Thanks for the help. TW

I have already purchased Model Kings version of the 79 Ford F-350 and will be converting it using resin fenders and grill I purchased from Evan Hermel and an AMT C-600 COE for the frame and such. I also will have to scratch the entire tank and storage compartments from Evergreen. I'm off to pretty good start but I would love to have more reference materials. Thanks TW
RyanSilva Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Il dig up some photos. But the tank would look something like this..keep in mind this is a old tank..but the design did not change too too much.. http://www.truckpaper.com/listings/detail....82D5C5C8C350093
Scott H. Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 I don't know how hard it would be to find and I can't remember who produced it, but there was a Milk Tanker trailer / truck body that could either be used as is or modified to make it look like you want. Hopefully someone either has photos or knows who made the kit and can help out a little better than I have. -Scott H.
Aaronw Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 (edited) Lindberg is supposed to be re-issuing the old IMC(?) Milk tanker sometime in 2009. The link in the first post goes to a photo of the Billy Carter pickup, I assume that is wrong since it is nt a Shell tanker. Edited November 29, 2008 by Aaronw
RyanSilva Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 (edited) Aaron..look in the backround of the photo..theres a little image of the tanker Edited November 30, 2008 by RyanSilva
Aaronw Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Oh, I guess there is, I didn't expect that. I do know there are some supposedly 1/24-1/25 scale diecast tankers similar to the IH in your link. One of those might work for the tanker part. Quote I have already purchased Model Kings version of the 79 Ford F-350 and will be converting it using resin fenders and grill I purchased from Evan Hermel Is this to convert an F350 into a heavier truck? If so I've been looking for a conversion for a 70's F600, can you provide any info on this?

Aaron a few months ago Evan Hermel had an article in Scale Auto that showed some of his work and a F-700 caught my eye. I wrote and ask for more details on the conversion, he had cast the fenders, grill and dash and had one set left at which time I bought them. I am not sure where one could but such so as you can imagine I was very pleased to get them and from a pioneer makes it that much better. TW

I have never seen the Linberg kit and did not know it ever existed. TW
Aaronw Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Tim built one last year, but the pics are not in the post anymore. Steve G posted some pics of the upcoming releases from Lindberg, you can see the tank trailer being pulled by a Dodge L700. As I understand it the kit is designed to allow it to be built as a trailer or on a truck. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15130
mackinac359 Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 The Lindberg (IMC-Testors) tanker might be a good starting point. Tim

TW If I were in your shoes, I would definitely wait until I could see the tanker kit and decide what to do from there. From what you are describing it is almost exactly what you are looking for. Rounded top, squared off lower sides, and a square box section on the back with doors for the hoses. I can't remember if they opened or not and I can not find my kit for the life of me so I could get pictures for you to see it. Just my 2 cents, -Scott H.
Travis Waits Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 http://public.fotki.com/twaits/semi-truck/daddys-truck/ The link shows progress so far.
