  1. Thanks a million for the help with the pics and thanks for the comments...
  2. http://public.fotki.com/twaits/stock/1963-galaxie/ Kryon Bright Red, White Gel Pen for Sidewalls, Masking Tape for Vinyl Top, BMF and Black Frisket Paper for trim.
  3. http://public.fotki.com/twaits/stock/1963-galaxie/100-2302.html Trying some new techniques I have read about from various other builders... 1. Masking Tape for Vinyl Top, Brush painted Flat Black, Dry fogged with Black Spray 2. White Gel Pen for sidewalls using a Geometry set for circles 3. Black Frisket for the Black inside the BMF side trim Allot of work but worth it...
  4. i have only seen the no door panel trick once before and it's on one in my collection. I like the door panels on yours much better than mine and others builders should give it a whirl...not as easy as it looks though.
  5. Dirt Tracker I built for close friend. Usual mods for creating dirt subjects and thanks to Greg Holland for the decals. TW
  6. Great work...I remeber it like it was yesterday. I only wish Davey could have beat the old man and won.
  7. If the cement is used sparingly in obsure places it will allow you a free pass to start over in case of a mistake. You may have better luck if you omit the bed floor while painting the sides and fenders. Take a piece of styrene rod or a scrap piece of the parts tree and attach at the tailgate mounting point. After paint drys remove the scrap piece and paint the bed floor brown and you gotta it made...that is if you were gonna paint it wood like
  8. Very nice detailing...I can think of dozen uses for that yellow shade in the NASCAR world..
  9. Very nice work and the possibilities are near endless for that cab. Mr Evan Hermel is the only other person I have seen use this type cab. I was lucky enough to buy one from him a few years back.
  10. Very intuitive to use masking tape for the insulation under the hood...I assume it's masking tape?
  11. Dixie Speedway indeed it was. His family operated a Shell station just of Hwy 41 in Emerson and also one at the intersection of Cassville rd and Erwin St here in town...Cartersville GA.
  12. I wanted to duplicate the look of a door that had simply had its door panels removed and put into service. I searched for a pic and found hardly anything on the subject go so I used my imagination and started drawing/cutting. I used the kit supplied door panels but removed all the detail (armrest, door handles and window cranks) afterwards cutting out the access "holes" and came up with what looks like a fair representation. Ditch it or go with it?
  13. I rmoved the factory mesh in the grill along with the center parking light bar. I replaced them with a more accurate scale grill to simulate the screen wire most of these cars had in one fashion or another. Using a piece of a jewelry gift bag my wife has at her work I cut to fit a piece and along with CA glue attached it to the bumper shell.
  14. I primed the body with Valspar from Lowes which has always worked well in the past with the laquers I have used. After sanding with 1500-2000 in progression I re primed and sanded the entire body again with the 2000. The picture shows all the flaws picked up during the chisel/hobby knife/file/sanding pad chrome removal process and is a much needed step to smooth everything out.
  15. I began by removing the exterior chrome and opened the wheel wells. I used a flat washer to stencil the desired opening size and cut them out using my rotary tool. I also went ahead and drilled out ventilation holes in the hood using a 5/32 bit with my pin vise drill.
  16. I will be using Revells "Black Widow" which in comparison to the other dirt 57s I have completed over the years is a very good base with alot of deletion process already molded or should I say molded out. Things like the radio, ventilation controls, and much of firewall non essentials are gone. Many extra parts are included for personalization along with a nice decal sheet for those who desire to build the boxart.
  17. A friend of mine ask me to try and duplicate a car he piloted back in the late 70s. A local favorite back in the day he was a threat each and every week. While he had many cars over the years the one pictured was one his favorites. I will do my best to replicate it for him... Thanks for looking....
  18. ...Go Mango and Hemi Orange are the same....are'nt they?
  19. I am not sure what class it would compete in but it sure was hoot to build... Monogram RS Camaro base.. Monogram Lumina Horespower, seat, tires and wheels.. Evergreen Roll bars, spoilers. sidepipes, glass, side skirts, instrument panel and tail lights.. Masking Tape net.. MS Paint generated number 0 transfered to white label paper used as a stensil for spraying.. Krylon Finish all the way including clear. First attempt using Krylon Clear but ut worked well on this subject.. I love these type of builds and cant wait for the next one, although my decal stash is getting low.
