Lyle Willits Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Two (2) of these fantastic cakes were made by Dawn Powers, our vice president's wife. THANK YOU DAWN. Harry Charon built this cool '61 Impala with most of a '65 Impala interior. Several RM Choppers are being modified and built, including this one from Dave Toups. Norm Veber's idea of having a club with no dues, no in-club contests and no politics has progressed and thrived for 18 years. Thank you Norm. 82 pics at the link: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model_clu...eeting_9162006/
Wildrice Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Congrats on 18 years. I look forward to seeing your pics from each meeting Lyle. Thanks.
oldcars Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Loved the pictures. You guys really know how to have a meeting.
MrObsessive Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Aww Shoot! I forgot all about the Anniversary today...........too much goin' on lately with the house and all............ Cake looks reeeeeally good! Hopefully the dust will be settled enough so I can get down there to chow down at the Christmas Party!
Ray Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Hey Lyle, who's building the Orange Crate. Is that the frame from the 32 Phantom Vickie? That is coming out great. Can't wait to see it finished.
Lyle Willits Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Ray - I'm not sure what frame he started with but he said much of the frame is scratchbuilt. It won't be an Orange Crate replica when done, but should turn out to be a very cool rod. I have a hard time with the names of ALL the club members, partly because I'm getting old, but mostly because we have 60-80 members at our meetings. However, they are never all the SAME members each month. Some of these guys only make it to a meeting 3 or 4 times a year. We've asked, for years, that people display their name tag with their models, but it rarely happens.
Ray Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Well I hope he makes it to meeting the show off the completed model. That thing is turning out sweet.
Chad Shapiro Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 The Orange Crate based model is being built by Steve Garrison
Lyle Willits Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Yeah, thanks Chad. I'm going to recomend that you be president upon my death,,,,,or when I get senile enough to forget the meeting dates.
Chad Shapiro Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Id be honored Lylye, lets hope its a long long time before we have to worry about that. Your not that old (well, maybe compared to me, your kinda up there). The older I get, the younger you seem. So in reality, maybe your getting younger? Steve Garrison builds a lot of neat hot rods. He also has a real (i.e. big) 29 Ford roadster. I dont believe he's on any of the internet forums.
cruz Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Hey, with the way this Shapiro kid builds I see him as president very soon! Congratulations to our Godfather Norman Veber, couldn't imagine going to these meetings without him being there, we love you Norm.......
