tody my cousin gave me a 57' belair model, it needs restoring pretty bad. the things i have to do is a new back bumper, headlights, and a engine.

whats the best way to dissasemble the kit without breaking anything?

future upgrades include : lambo doors(thanks to a fellow member), a nice 396,lowered, maybe some new wheels and tyres, new paint, maybe some new decals, and a new interior. also ill be shaving the door handles and a few other things.

thanks-Jeff

If one night in the freezer doesn't do it, leave it for several days. I tried overnight and it didn't do much. A friend of mine leaves them about a week. Give that a try.

thanks buys, i finally picked up the model today. its a 55 belair(metal body) i really dont like metal bodys that much(you cant do much with them) im foing to try to find a plastic body, also it seems to be a pro street so im building a full roll cage for it along with a few other things, ill post this one in w.i.p. section.

ill try the freezer method as you guys sugested and see if that works.

thanks, Jeff

The tri-five Chevies are all over the place. I know that R/M recently did a 55 convertible, and I've heard that they are doing a hardtop. AMT did a 55 2 door sedan a few years ago. These are not expensive. Unless it has sentimental value, I'd suggest going with a new one.

Jeff, I'm gonna hafta agree with Doug on this one, Bro.It'd be ALOT easier on ya if you stuck with plastic, unless you been around diffrent modeling mediums (like diecast, resins,etc.)before. Guys like Treehugger Dave can probly give you all kinds of tips for workin with Diecast, But if your a younger modeler, I would stay with plastic if I had a choice! There are some NICE Tri-Five kits out there in plastic. But it's up to you Bro, if you think you can handle it, GO for it!(It's only a model, after all!) B)
