youpey Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 (edited) i am looking to build a c1 corvette, and prefer the 56+ body style of the c1 and i found that there are 2 kits that are very intriguing to me, both revell kits. first is the 58 kit. it looks like revell germany is releasing it or has recently. The other is the 62 kit, which looks like a brand new tooling from 2012. My question is, is there one that will build nicer and be better overall experience with fit and finish between the 2? i dont have a real preference between the 2 years as they look quite similar to me. I am primarily looking to build one straight out of the box, no modifications. Here is a little story. When i was young, we went to asbury park in nj for easter. I spent my couple of dollars at the games and for my prize with my tokens i bought a pack of corvette cards. they were just baseball style cards with corvette pictures of every year. that was my very first gateway into cars and my passion for them. Deuces ll Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Let's not forget about the '59 Vette... it's also based off the same tooling as the '58 Vette.... Let me dig up a picture... Be right back....?
Deuces ll Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Monogram and Revell share the same molds to make the '58-'59 kits....
Deuces ll Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 The first new tool '58 started out in Monogram Pro Modeler series... I bought mine when it first came out....
youpey Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 1 hour ago, Casey said: thank you for the links. it looks like i will try to get the 58. there was 7 pages on that link of mostly complaints, but none were about the quality of the kit. the deciding factor for me, was the opening trunk in the 58. i dont know why though. off to ebay to see if i can find one cheap
