I finished this on Saturday.

Model King 64 Mercury Comet.

Its a curbside. I added Flocking, BMF, And parts box wheels and tires.

Painted with Dupli Color automotive touch up, Cleared and buffed.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Thanks for looking and comments welcome.

Very Very nice work Ed, I've been wanting to get one of these kits. Now that I've seen yours I know it's a must have. Great job. B)

That looks great, Ed. Very nicely done. This is a nice little curbside kit of a cool, different car. I like your color choices, and as you can see great minds think somewhat alike :D . In 1971 my best friend in high school bought his first car from his older brother, who decided to get a new car. My friend's first car was a mint burgundy '64 Comet Cyclone! Needless to say, he wishes he had it now. B)

Ed, that's niiiicccceeeee!I like the color and the wheels! It built up pretty neat for a curbside, and you did it justice. Really do like the color though, what is it?(I mean, besides Dupli-color brown) B)

Thanks for the Kind words guys.

George,

I dont know what the color is because I bought a bunch of Dupli Color rattle cans at a flea market a while ago for a half a buck a can and this was one of them. All I know is its a GM color. Sorry I cant tell you more than that. B):D:P

Looks great!!! I have been wanting to get one of these... I have always loved the 64 comets..... How hard was it to do the BMF for the trim that runs the length of the car? I am building a 65 falcon right now for my uncle for an Xmas present, and want to do the side trim on it, but havent worked with BMF yet....

Thanks, Rudy

Rudy,

The foil wasn't too bad on this one. I use a rounded off toothpick to "scribe" the edges before I cut. Make sure you use a brand new blade and dont dig in with the knife, Let the weight of the knife do the cutting. I try to make one continueous cut and dont go back over it. I painted the white with acrylic paint and a very fine brush. That way if you make a mistake you can wipe it off with a damp rag and try again. Hope this helps.

Oh! Heres the Falcon I did

Is that the Model King reissue?

My first car was a '64 Falcon Sprint, which looks a lot like the Comet.

I also built the Daddy Warbucks '65 Falcon AF/X. Being a reissue from the 60's there's not much to it, (unless you like upsidedown Ford logos on the valve covers B) ), but it's still special to me.
