Pete J. Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Did they close the schools?   Yes, actally they did!! Oh, no that was for Christmas holiday! Oh well, good thought.
Rob Hall Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 (edited) so far we have only gotten cold temperatures and rain. this was the view from my model room yesterday. some poeple find this depressing, but i like this time of year on the river better than the summer months. Dave Even dead and gray like that, it does have it's charm. What part of the country is that? I know when I lived in Michigan the grayness and dampness of winter could weigh on me, but I was young and living in Ann Arbor at the time, so I was never bored. Though I found Colorado winters much nicer, a lot more sun and dry. Edited December 20, 2008 by Rob Hall
The Modeling Hermit Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 We're getting our usual winter here. It's 40 and raining. I don't think I could handle living in the midwest anymore. The winters are too cold and the summers are too hot.
locoengr Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 We had five more inches of popcorn fart dry snow last night. Add that to the 10 last weekend and some smaller snows before tht. Wind out of the north at 20mph, actual temp is -9*. That will also be our high temp for Sunday. -20* for Monday morning. Add the wind to all these temps and it feels like over -35* plus colder. This for all the way through Christmas. Then our summers are 90* and above, lots of humidty, storms and mosquitos....I see why Lewis and Clark said this are was uninhabitabe when they made their expedition. Why do I live here????? I don't know. Sitting by our fireplace looking out the picture window from our back living room, it is actually pretty out there. Sounds strange doesn't it?! Bruce in Fargo
Harry P. Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 We got a bit of snow here yesterday... I had to shovel the driveway twice to keep up. That's my car at the end of the driveway... Man!!! I gotta get me a snowblower... this shoveling business is killing me!
locoengr Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 (edited) I have a picture, that was take this last Friday, of one of the "cuts" on our branch line. It is similar in snow depth to this. Albeit not near as long. I'll try to scan and post it as soon as I can get it developed. You need something with ski's on it Harry! Edited December 21, 2008 by locoengr
RodneyBad Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Managed to get snow in Portland. It'll be deeper Sunday.
Rob Hall Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Managed to get snow in Portland. It'll be deeper Sunday. That house looks very similar to my buddy Kirk's house in Beaverton. I was there when there was a really nasty ice storm in December a few years ago.

Harry P. Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 There was a lot of "blowing and drifting"... BTW... it's 7 below zero right now. Beautiful weather were havin' here...
