70gmcer Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 (edited) Just finished up doing this original screw bottom car. Made it into a Gold Anniversary Impala. Forgive the dust specs... Edited December 17, 2008 by 70gmcer
RodBurNeR Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 you did a real nice job! I am particularly a fan of building the old stuff! I would like to get a '62 hardtop like this also. I have not been looking hard enough though.
MrObsessive Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Very nice!! It would be nice to see this one kitted along with the '62 Bel Air bubbletop!
RodBurNeR Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Very nice!! It would be nice to see this one kitted along with the '62 Bel Air bubbletop! Bill, they released the bubbletop several times in the last few years. I built one of the last issues that came in a "checker board" box from walmart. If you want to see it, you can PM me if you like.
MrObsessive Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Yeah, I've seen the reissue recently...........I meant it would be nice to have both at the same time. I guess one could kitbash the roof from the '62 Catalina (would need some tweaking shape wise) on to the recent '62 Impala convertible to make a Impala hardtop.
Ron Hamilton Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Yeah, I've seen the reissue recently...........I meant it would be nice to have both at the same time. Are you coming to the meeting Saturday???? If so, I have something along those lines to show you.
Dragon7665 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Looks Great Gmcer I got an old build up that I have been trying to decide the route that I want to go with it.... Can't decide if I want to do a Dyno Don,a Slammer/Lowrider,a Base Model Imp,or a Mild Kustom... Yeah, I've seen the reissue recently...........I meant it would be nice to have both at the same time. I guess one could kitbash the roof from the '62 Catalina (would need some tweaking shape wise) on to the recent '62 Impala convertible to make a Impala hardtop. Yeah I hear ya Bill, I don't understand why they went through the trouble of doing the Belair's, then modify them for the Verts, but then dropped the ball with the Impala Hardtops like they were talking before..... Personally I like the Belairs,Biscaynes,Caprices, and Base Non-SS, but I have really wanted '62 Hardtop for sometime..... I Lucked out and got mine a few months back....

I'm heading out of town on another trip so I wouldn't be able to make it. If you can take some pics of it, send it to my email-----I'd love to see it!
John Goschke Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Beautiful build of a nice old kit! Makes me sorry I sold the one I had!
70gmcer Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 ok gotcha, yeah it would be nice! Here's the newer release that I bashed on the Catalina top to. I'll be finishing this in the future. This one is base on my 1:1 car that I had a few years back.
carrucha Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Nice build. It's nice to see a model of a standard Impala rather than the Super Sport. I plan on building a '62 Impala SS hardtop using the AMT '62 Impala convertible kit and the Modelhaus hardtop body. carrucha
