Irvin Arter Jr. Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 This was a old build up I bought from Dave Toups. He sold it to me with the agreement that I would just put it back together. I did buy the newer issue for some parts that were broken. I tried to use everything that was still useable. I also tried not to over do it with detail to ruin it's old feel. Here is what it looked like when I started and now......... enjoy!
randx0 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 you did a great restoration on that one . I wish they would release this with the original parts .
Joe Handley Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Is that the same kit as the GoodGuys T-Bucket?
John Goschke Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Nice restoration! I wish I could find an early issue of this kit that was affordable. Just screams '60s cool!
70gmcer Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Nice redo. I remember doing that kit when it first came out in the early 60's. Back then, I didn't have the patience to do it right. Can't remember if I finished it or not. If I remember right, it's the only issue of this kit in 1/24th scale by Monogram. They also did "The Little Deuce" in the series.
Irvin Arter Jr. Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 I used the GoodGuys T-Bucket for all the repairs. It's the same kit but, from what I understand it does not have all the org. parts. I used new chrome pieces only to replace broken chrome. I did use new Glass and the top which was missing. I sanded the tires and cleaned everything. Who ever built this was a clean builder not much glue so I quess it was a adult. I really wanted to keep it as a vintage build not a total redo.
Lyle Willits Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 I have an original and an original box, waiting for the same treatment. I'm going to get to it,,,,,one of these days. Great job Irv.
James Flowers Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 I got one of these in a box of models I bought. The thing is, it is well built but the engine and windshield frame are missing. I love to see old models brought back to life. Nice work.
cotto Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 This is truly unique my friend, you did a great job on this oldie but goodie. I think I have one of those in my stash, I will certainly be checking soon.
Dave Wood Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 VERY NICE!!! I'll Trade ya a Big T or a Big Deuce kit or hell what ever you want out of my stash for it? Dave
