smartdriver Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 A good Friend of mine own a beutiful MB 220 SE, he drove Years ago by the famous "Planai Classic" Snow rallye. He have alittle Crash on a icy Road, "lucky" there was a TV Team and i see the scene after the Crash. One of his Copilots repair the Front wing with a few Hammerstrokes , then they put a Plasterbandage for Childs on it with the Words " More we can't do to it..." The Reporter said " Its unbelievable, the Austrians laugh after they demolished their car" And on our Clubmeeting my Friend told the Story, i coud'nt resist , said no Problem, make a Model and you are a Star on the big Oldtimer Exhibition. Well so the Story starts. I took the Revell 300 SE, not a good One fronm this Company. The Roofline is complete off and they make the long Version, the very rare 300 SEL. This could verified very easy, because the Backdoors are longer. So after the usual parting and stripping, i cut a strip out of the Doors and the Bodyshell. Not so easy, the Cuttingdisc i use, was after this ready for the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH place. Then was the open Roof closed and sanded. A bit of a Challenge was the destroyes Wing. I formed this over the Originalpart with Tinfoil , bend it to shape , fill it with Superglue and Fillerballs. Then cut out the part of the Bodyshell, glue the Tin one on and sand all to fit. Painting was done with Acrylics, some selfmade paperstickers and dedcals for the Racenumbers complete this Step. The Rims without Chrometrim where from the Rallyevariant of this model. Made a Rubbermould and dublicate them with Resin. First the Originalcar. Here you can se the cutline, the added Beams and Towhooks and the Foilwing. The Plasticstrips are added, to reinforce the Glueline. After the Painting, i added some Weathering. For the Exhibition i customize the package also with Images from the Event. It was a Big Fun for all the Visitors and Clubmembers. The Red and White Originalcar is amnother 220 from Clubmember. It was really fun to do something different and this Model have aspecial Place by his Owner. Regards Harry
