Classic Plastic Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 My girlfriend has always wanted a 65 Mustang. I found this Monogram kit on Evil-Pay for $2. I couldn't pass it up! At this point it won't be ready for Christmas...but maybe New Years! I've got it primered and trying to decide if I want to flock the interior. It will be "Go Mango" orange with black rally stripes. Keeping my fingers crossed for some good painting weather here in Colorado!
Classic Plastic Posted December 27, 2008 Author Posted December 27, 2008 (edited) Here's my progress, on "Mary's Mustang" since my last post. I've got the engine & chassis built. Scratch built exhaust system. Edited December 27, 2008 by Classic Plastic
Classic Plastic Posted December 27, 2008 Author Posted December 27, 2008 I got paint on the body and I used a silver Sharpie pen for trim work. Waiting for more good weather for some clearcoat. Thanks for looking!

Classic Plastic Posted December 28, 2008 Author Posted December 28, 2008 (edited) Thanks for the great support guys! Looks like the weather here in Denver will be favorable for some clearcoat on the body. I've been doing some work on the interior. It dosn't look like my girlfriend is getting her Mustang by New Years....LOL! She's been very supportive and patient. Progress photos coming soon! Edited December 28, 2008 by Classic Plastic
rat pack Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Here's my progress, on "Mary's Mustang" since my last post. I've got the engine & chassis built. Scratch built exhaust system. nice work on that chasis
LVZ2881 Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 looks good so far!!! careful with the clearcoat...it can sometimes make sharpie's run after you spray it..
Classic Plastic Posted December 29, 2008 Author Posted December 29, 2008 Clearcoat went on just fine. I worked on the interior/dashboard this weekend. Waiting on flocking material to finish it up. Also because the kit decals are blue, I'll try to make or buy some black rally stripes for the body. I thought about ordering a set from Keith Marks, but he's in Canada so that could take awhile to get them. Here's a shot of the engine. Just box stock...no extra details here. Mary appreciates the simple things. Besides, once the hood is closed she may never look at the engine again! LOL!
Classic Plastic Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 I finished up the interior today. Added a subwoofer box and flocked the interior. This is my first attempt at flocking. It was easier than I thought. Still waiting on decal film to make the rally stripes on the body.
Classic Plastic Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 I'm getting a little closer to finishing the Stang. The body and chassis went together smoothly. Still waiting for decal film for the rally stripes. One of the chrome turn signal pieces for the front valance was missing from the kit. So, I sent an email to Revell Customer Service for a replacement part. This could turn into a Valentine's Day present! LOL!! Thanks for everyones positive input!
