Craig Irwin Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Haven't seen any C7 or C8 Corvettes, and was just wondering. The C8 defiantly deserves a full detail kit.
larman Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Revell did a 2014 Stingray in both pre-painted snap and glue kits. No C7 Z-06 or ZR-1. There are 1/24 diecasts of these, but they are pretty poor, IMHO......Also no C8 plastic kits, but there are 1/24 C8 Stingray diecasts in several colors. These are about the same quality as the C7 diecasts. They are generally inexpensive, but will most likely develop "paint rash" or worse if you keep them long enough....That is why I am not a fan of diecast models, especially for a car that is not even made out of metal to start with. I would love to see plastic models of the C7 and C8, especially the higher end models. I think the model companies got burned when they flooded the market with the C4s years ago, and now are gun shy, even though the C7 and C8 are significant evolutions to the brand.
Len Woodruff Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 I am not sure we will see a C8 street car in plastic. My guess would be that Revell will do the new C8R GT-3 WEC spec that will be raced in Europe & Le Mans. BTW we did get the C7 with engine detail along with the C7R race car. Both were pretty nice kits.
Timonator Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 This is the Revell kit built to resemble my 1:1.
AJM Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 Here's a couple of pictures of the C7 GS that I built --it was a kitbash of the Revell C7 Stingray, C7R and the grill and other pieces from the the 1/24 Maisto Z06, you can search for the full build detail under '2019 C7 Corvette GS' --its listed under the WIP and the 'Under Glass' 1
Craig Irwin Posted November 24, 2021 Author Posted November 24, 2021 Thanks guys! I've got a kit on the way. Sure hope someone does the C8.
AJM Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 absolutely agree -- as Len said maybe we get a C8R from Revell or better yet a 1/24 scale from Tamyia, like their McClaren Senna kit! If we got that, with some creativity, one could craft a Z06 C8! Let's keep our fingers crossed!
