AaronM Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Just ordered the “old box” version of this Kit. So watching with interest Would you share some of your colour choice plans etc? I will probably do mine with a black chassis etc as was the fashion of the period.. The instructions are delightfully vague
kpnuts Posted January 2, 2022 Author Posted January 2, 2022 Yes some parts it gives you 2 choices of colour other places it says nothing ( and some of them are quite large parts) the diff and rear axle for instance no colour cal, out at all. I will be using jay lenos replica (if you look on YouTube there is a video of him unboxing it) also there are loads of YouTube videos of it in various colours. 1
kpnuts Posted January 14, 2022 Author Posted January 14, 2022 Hi all rear dampers done WAPITA Pleased they're done but they took ages.
kpnuts Posted January 18, 2022 Author Posted January 18, 2022 Hi all there are upgrade kits for the wheels of this kit but I honestly can see nothing wrong with the kit ones, they don't even need cleaning no flash of anything.
AaronM Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 That’s coming together very nicely. How has the fit and finish been of the plastics?
kpnuts Posted January 23, 2022 Author Posted January 23, 2022 Fit has been great. More trials of the body fit (I really love this kit)
kpnuts Posted January 31, 2022 Author Posted January 31, 2022 More done to the Alfa added detail to the firewall (put the rubber strip round where the bonnet goes and some wires) added (or as much as I can see) the throttle linkage (not sure where to route the throttle linkage) all the pics I can find finish where it is now, obviously it must end up at the peddle but no idea how it goes from where it is now to the peddle. Loving the detail on the grill (this from a man that hates PE
kpnuts Posted February 3, 2022 Author Posted February 3, 2022 OK so I've added locknut detail to the radiator cowling ( loads more of that to add ) added the advance/ retard mechanism and the low tension leads to the coil and to the distributor (still to make the condenser)
kpnuts Posted February 5, 2022 Author Posted February 5, 2022 Hi all did more work on the engine and the cockpit And more work underneath.
kpnuts Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 Hi all I'm really enjoying this kit, fit is great, no flash at all( I've seen some bad reviews of this kit, all I can say is they haven't built it or are not modelers)
cobraman Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 Your model is looking great ! Looks very detailed and what you are adding really adds a lot. Very nice .
kpnuts Posted February 9, 2022 Author Posted February 9, 2022 More done to the Alfa, the underneath is finished so on to the top ( those nuts are 1.4mm the hole I drilled in them is 0.3mm) the drilling was easy threading that wire through the hole was another story. I'm kind of wishing I hadn't started it, on the other hand it does make quite a difference to the overall look. The exhaust is not fixed I just wanted to see how it looked. The radiator to bulkhead brace I made out of copper wire the thing supplied in the kit is so flimsy (the only bad bit in the whole kit.
kpnuts Posted February 12, 2022 Author Posted February 12, 2022 Hi all first disappointing bit of the kit so far, spent 2 hrs trying to get the bonnet to fit, still not happy with it not sure what to do next to improve fit.
kpnuts Posted February 14, 2022 Author Posted February 14, 2022 Hi all well its as good as I'm going to get it.
cobraman Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 I think it looks great ! I don't think that small gap takes away from how nice the model is overall. Sometime we are our own worst critics.
