E St. Kruiser50 Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 Boy that was easy. Gotta new 10 mega-pixel camera loaned to me and WOW I think I may buy one of these. I just need a higher close up. This is only 5 times and I want 12. Anyhow, here's some pics of the "hatch" removed. Woulda done the doors today too, but had to download the software and play with the camera. Works great - I like it Whatta ya think Harry?? Here's some pic's

Keep on doing what you're doing... and you know where this will end up... Thanks Harry Got a little primer on the ol' girl, and after it's dries I'll add a little more filler to take care of some "Gap-iosis" , then I'll start "Knifing" the doors and "Jammin". Otta go pretty quick, then I can do some "hingin" on the doors and "Hatch". Too fun
crispy Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Dave, That is AWESOME! I would have never thought of mixing the two together like that. You make it work so seamlessly. Any idea on colors? Forgive me if you've mentioned it as I only read the last page. Fantastic work! Chris
evilone Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 WOW i am mezmorized. If only i could build something this good.Sweet build bro .

I was woundering, do you ever get tired of being so darn good? looks outstaning as always.... mike That's funny. I'm just tryin' to get better at this and have fun, like everyone else here. It's all about the fun ya know. Just like when we were little kids playin' with our toys, here we are playin' with our "TOYZ" again
Bryce Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Great work so far – your restyling really works. I’m genuinely surprised at how natural those mods look on such a new car. I particularly like the fastback rear window hatch and pointy nose. Have you considered including the ’69 gills in the side scoop as well?
E St. Kruiser50 Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 (edited) I been playin' with the new camera so not as much done as I coulda, but havin' fun . Here's some pic's of the progress. Got the door's and hatch cut out, and pretty well got most of the finishing done, and ready to start looking at how to blend the interior with the jam's that I'll build. 'I need to start on the hinges first, so I know how to modify the interior. Put a coupla removeable roof supports in to keep the body ridged, so when I was "Knifing" the doors out, I wouldn't SNAP something. I guess this is turning into more than I had planned, but sure is fun . Anyhow, here's the pic's. Edited January 29, 2009 by Treehugger Dave
RodneyBad Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 (edited) Impressive as all your work.. That has got to be the biggest trunk on any corvette Edited January 29, 2009 by Zukiholic
Bernard Kron Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 (edited) So let me get this right... This isn't one of the contest builds! BTW, this absolutely needs to be a resin transkit when you're done!!!!! Edited January 29, 2009 by gbk1
CB Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I guess this is turning into more than I had planned, but sure is fun . 'We' aren't complaining now, are 'we', Dave? I knows we aint complaining---as long as you don't spend all yer time with dat camera! That is one awesome lookin' Vette!
Dr. Cranky Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 This build just keeps getting better and better. Keep up the great work. I'm enjoying every step of it!

Peter Lombardo Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Looking real good Dave. I really like making operational features on my cars and I really like that you are adding the opening doors and hatch on this, it will add some life to this, not that it needs it, but I really like where this has been and is going to. This is sure a "one of a kind" 'Vette. On another note, you said the other day you are looking to design and build a car completely from scratch...I think that is a great idea and I obviously am looking forward to seeing it all the way from design to completion as I am sure you will document the entire process. Believe it or not, last month I began working on a completely orginial design and scratch build (using a kit chassis and engine, but all else is scratch) myself. We seem to be thinking along the same lines. My build, if it goes to plan, will have a couple of very unique features that I am not at liberty to mention yet. This will be pretty cool, two completely unique cars. One East Coast and one West Coast. Ok, enough talk, back to work. Keep it going!

Your stuff is always exciting and over-the-top, so can't wait to see what it's about. Yeah, we seem to be hittin' on the same wave-length here. Pretty cool. Right coast/left coast . Me, i'm hopin to have most of the "Old projects" pretty wrapped up, before I start something brand new, hopefully by mid to late summer. It all depends on the rest of my life LOL - Family, friends, and probably a contest or two and definetly some week-end trips to the beach this summer. I love the beach. And of coarse the PGA tour and Tiger Woods coming back hopefully this season . He is so amazingly good. Still got two scratch-built's to finish. One is almost done, the other is pretty major, with some things to do I've never done before on models, so I'm excited to get back on that one. It's patiently waiting for me . I gotta tell ya that this retirement thing, is way better than I expected. I loved my career, but the freedom and the energy I get from my independance, and choosing new goals and new directions for my life, is amazing. Still young and passionate for life, and I love each new day. God has really blessed me richly over the years, just like He has you and many other's here, and it's so cool to be able to thank Him, and live for Him. He's the greatest . Anyhow, I'll be watching for a new thread on this latest project of your's. All the best my friend - dave Edited January 30, 2009 by Treehugger Dave
Peter Lombardo Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Dave, I am wondering, you mentioned the PGA tour and Tiger....are you a golfer or a watcher? You are right about Tiger. I have followed professional golf since the early 1960's. I was (am) a real fan of Jack Nicklaus during his dominant years. He had some amazing duals with Tom Watson. But Tiger, if he remains healthy, should blow Jacks records away. If you play golf to any higher level (more then a duffer) you can really appreciate what Tiger can do with a golf ball. He can just "will" the shot or the putt to do what he needs it to do. When the match is on the line, you can not bet against him. I basically am not interested in golf on TV unless he is in the hunt.

Hi Peter Yeah' I'm a watcher and follower like you. Your right too, in that Golf's been pretty boring this year without "TIGER" . If he stay's healthy, I don't think there's any stoppin him for some new records - Pretty cool. I got a set of clubs, as it allows me to go out once in a great while when my oldest son and practice on my "HOOK" and "SLICE" . I do better bowling, so does my son though. He whips me pretty bad, but we sure have fun together . Anyhow, talk at you later - dave
Harry P. Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Golf??? Isn't that what guys who don't build model cars do for a hobby???
E St. Kruiser50 Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 (edited) Hey all I have lot's of different favorite's when it comes to building, and "Jammin: is one of them. It's fun figuring things out, and making them work, and have the fir real "Tight" when it needs to be. I used the jams on here to help locate and lock the interior tub in place. I fiiled in some spaces on the outside of the tub to make everything "Flush", so I could build the jam's up against them. I wanted everything "Razor Edge Sharp" , straight and flat so that all the pieces would easily fit into place. Even with a little extra time spent to fit them all, it's amazing how well they all went together. I'd include some pic's but something has gone "Haywire" with my computor, but my son will be over in a day or two, to fix it - HE'S GOOD . Everything is fixable. Have a good week-end - dave Edited January 31, 2009 by Treehugger Dave

E St. Kruiser50 Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 (edited) There were several way's to do these, but I decided I needed a straight line between the jams and the interior tub to make this work properly. I added flat sheets of plastic on the outside of the tub to make it flat, so it would match the jams on the body, and then built the jams on the body to fit. I made everything "Razor Edge" sharp, and a tight , sorta "Press Fit" , so that the body has to be spread open to receive the interior tub and will "Snap" back "Snugly" into place so there are no gaps. Seems to have worked . I'll do the hatch jams next, using donor body parts like I did on the doors. I had three Vette kits total, two for donor parts for this build, and for a '55 Chev with "Vette" goodies , and parts for several other builds tooGotta get my money's worth . Anyhow, here's some pic's. Edited February 1, 2009 by Treehugger Dave
