crazyjim Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 When you pour the paint out the cup onto the water, I think the paint will stick to the inside of the cup. I've never tried that particular approach. When you spray the paint over the water already in the container, you get the swirling effect.
Smart-Resins Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 Well, I had asked on a few sites for a copy of the mag articles. Had several poeple say they would scan them, but no has yet? I dont get a swirling effect when I spray the paint. Maybe I am just a boober? I will try soon on a extra body to pour paint into it so I can somwhat swirl it. Ill post the results good or bad! LOL. Jody
Abell82 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Here check this out: Spin art If one approach does not work, why not try another? (There are other suggestions, on how to do this at the site, too.) It looks similar to tie dye, it's just as colorful, and will be just as much or more fun to do, with a model.
crazyjim Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Sorry Jody. I remember offering to copy the magazine article and get it to yuo, but don't remember hearing that you wanted it. I can scan the article but have no idea how to get the scan into this forum. Want to provide me with a regular email address? I'll get it done this week sometime - promise. Can I post my real email address here or is that against the rules?
crazyjim Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Here's the scanned article from the March 1972 Car Model magazine about tie dyeing.
crazyjim Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 and here's the last page of the article. The forum said I had too mnay pictures in the first one.
Smart-Resins Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 Thank you for your posting. Very much appreciated! Jody
crazyjim Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Not a problem. Hope it helps and sorry I took so long.
