Snake45 Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab A8. All I want to do is stream radio and TV. It's good on the radio (through Google Chrome) but I can't figger out how to get TV on it. On TLMS's IPad, in the Settings there one where you select your TV provider and it connects right to my cable provider through WiFi. No such setting on the Galaxy. And no TV apps available either. How do I do this?
Rodent Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 You may have to download your cable provider's app and sign in as you.
Snake45 Posted March 30, 2022 Author Posted March 30, 2022 Thanks to you, I'm making progress. Got ABC and NBC and History. Discovery wants me to log in through my TV provider--yay!--but doesn't seem to offer or recognize my TV provider. Will let you know more tonight but this is much farther along than I was. Many thanks!
Rodent Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 No worries! I don't mean to treat you like a dummy, but you have made it clear that you don't have a smart phone and I am ASSuming that you may not be familiar with Google Play. Does your TV provider have an app? That is really what I was thinking. I have Xfinity/Comcast and I can watch mobile most of the stuff I can stream at home. Not that I ever do, LOL.
Snake45 Posted March 30, 2022 Author Posted March 30, 2022 ABC wanted me to log in through my provider, but DID list my provider, so no problem there. Also got AMC and FXNOW, but haven't tried them yet. I didn't think you were treating me like a dummy, not at all. I'd have never thought to look in Google Play. Thanks again! 1
Snake45 Posted March 31, 2022 Author Posted March 31, 2022 (edited) AMC and FXNow are working fine. I found out how to log in to my provider with Discovery--turns out the full list was at the bottom of the screen, I just had to swipe up a little. Doh! Downloaded HBO and Showtime but still have to log in with them. I think it'll go okay--I'm optimistic, at least. Next question: This thing has the shortest "time to sleep" of anything I've ever seen. I think it's under 10 seconds. (If I don't do anything in that time, it turns off and I have to power up and log back on again. I thought TLMS's IPad time to sleep was short, at around a minute, or maybe 30 seconds). I can't find anything in the settings that sounds like it would fix this. Where would I look? ETA: Got logged into HBO and SHO fine. I think I found the sleep setting under screen display. We'll see if that works. Edited March 31, 2022 by Snake45
Snake45 Posted March 31, 2022 Author Posted March 31, 2022 Update: Now logged into HBO and Showtime. Turns out I wasn't actually logged into History, was only being offered selected unlocked episodes. (The one I watched today turned out to be a lucky unlocked one.) Tried to log in through my provider again but a slightly different setup this time and it wouldn't let me in. Sigh. Oh well, I still have most of what I wanted.
