ive been working on a camaro(69') but ive ran into a problem, i cut the interior and "frame" to put bigger wheels(slicks) on the car. but now i cant figure out how to make it look better. im talking about i guess tubbing it out, what do i use to make the tubs? and what do i use to bond it all together?i also want to ditch the stock floor pan and make it a framed car. any tips on that? there arent any hobby stores in my town or a place that sells anything to do with models, there is a hobby lobby the next town over that i can go to,along with micheals. im also adding the front tube frame off a nascar so i have the engine bay covered, but i still need to find something i can use as a hinge for a flip nose hood. any help with that?

sorry for all the questions im just really getting into customizing models, im still use to building them box stock.lol

thanks.

G'day Jeff,

Mate, I'm probably not a whole lot of help to ya, but here is what I've done (partially done) on a couple of mine..

This 69 Camaro I started years ago, I grafted the backhalf from a Revell Chevelle. "Max Rat" was the kit. It has been reissued several times I think.

You may be able to check out the hobby shops on your next trip to town or check ebay..The issue I have is green on the box.

Gives a nice stance once she's installed..

The other alternative is to search ebay's resin section. I got this one to suit a 70 Camaro I'm working on..

If you wish to make the whole tubbed area yourself, the satisfaction when complete is a beautiful feeling...

I've only done this once, on my 69 Charger.. I moved the rear frame rails "inboard" by cutting just inside each one. Remove the center section including gas tank.

Move the rails inboard to new location and add square rectangle plastic/styrene to make frame. I had to mocked up the formed tubbs several times

before I was happy enough to add glue. It takes plenty of patience, measuring, checking..re-measuring, more checking...but worth it.

On a 69 Camaro, just make the section between the rails flat, or you may also want to narrow the fuel tank to suit..

A better option, and one which will give you motor options as well, is to get a Pro street/Stock of Sportsman kit..the 55-57 Chevy kits kitbash well... ;)

I have seen some guys do beautiful work putting one of these tubbed chassis under Camaros and other makes..

Check out the drag racing section for some more ideas too....even full race car ideas can be transferred to a street project.. ^_^

Hope this helps out a little Jeff, good luck mate.

cheers

Greg

hay dude, scratch building is hard enough when you have the supplies! it's crazy hard if you are trying to find stuff to

make the stuff your trying to make. :D anyway, revell has the prosportsman kits out(1955 & 1957) chevys, but the floor pans are great for your situation and the parts left over ary fantastic for the parts box. I saw alot of them at my local K MART . and hobby lobbie will have em.

I know this may be a Lil late, but another good thing to use to make tub's is prescription bottles, cut the puppy in half, and as long as you need it to be, or wide as you need it, then file sand and attach with super glue, make sure to get the right size bottle, to fit the tire...
