My grandfather Styve passed away on 10/25/98 and my grandmother Styve passed away on 5/30/22. So I’m doing my own personal tribute builds of remembering always having a blast playing with my toy cars at my grandparents house. This build and my next build will be my personal tribute build to my grandparents.

They owned a Trans Am?

One of my favorite cars, as you can see by my Avatar.

Nope, I had the Hot Wheels Hot Bird, and I always loved playing with it, when I was at their place. The next part of this build will be my custom version of the Hot Wheels Bywayman.

Got the base color down, Testors Black Chrome. Now in a few days, I’ll do a very light coat of the main color, Testors Color Shift Turquoise Waters.

I got the headlights, grilles, and wheels done today. I’m using the kit’s tires and wheel backs. These wheels are from a Monogram ‘56 Chevy. The kit I’m building is the Monogram ‘79 Trans Am 3 ‘n 1. I trued your sand the backs of the grilles, to open them up, but sanded them out instead. So I’m using some photo etch screen for the grilles. I like how they turned out. A happy mistake.

Nice looking build. I'm interested in how the paint you're using turns out. I also bought some a while ago but haven't had a shoutable model for it and not sure how it will look, so I'll be looking in on this.

Cool. I did a very light coat of it, just on the corners. If you look at my AE86 E. Levin build, I have a slightly thicker coat on that build. Later, I’ll PM you pictures of a ‘64 442 that I did.

Goth the very light coat of the Testors Color Shift Turquoise Waters on the car, and all the decals on it. Since I’m from WA., and so were my grandparents, I put on a Washington state plate.

Looks like the Hot Wheel I had when I was a kid. One of my favorites too!

Where did you get the decals from?

I got them from Keith Marks Decals. If you go to SCRedlines.com, you could create an account with them and order decals for either the 1/24 or 1/25 scale Firebird kits. In the Under Glass section, you could see the finished car.
