Saltie Olds Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 As much as I like the original Dodge Power Wagon’s, I like the Dodge WC-54 Ambulance. I’m going to keep the winch and front bumper on this one. I’m also going to be keeping the wheelbase and overall length the same as well. Depending on how many people enjoy this build and requests I get to have a post of the other one I have, I’ll post my ‘57 Black Widow Team, as I build it. Yes, I have two of these. Here’s also a picture of both trucks side by side. The one that says WIX is the one I’ve had for 20+ years and the other one, I’ve had for only a couple years.
maxwell48098 Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 I'm interested in this one. Back in the '80's, I bought a toy power wagon ambo, and converted it to a brush rig. Turns out it was 1/25 or 1/24 scale. Here's a few pics. A.J.

I wish I could find one of those as a 1/25 scale diecast, but at least I’m going to have fun building mine.
Chariots of Fire Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Blending the roof line of the ambulance with the cab is going to be a chore. Be sure and check out several pics of the WC-54 and you will see that the roof rolls inward above of and toward the cab doors. Making the box is easy enough. If you are a mind to, get a copy of the Tankograd WC series for the WC-51 and 52. It will have photos of the ambulance version as well. The ambulance wheelbase is 194-1/2" if that helps. Looking forward to see your work!
GLMFAA1 Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Helpful hint: find a model or die cast military model and rescale the dimensions up to your scale. This helped me when I built my Hummer ambulance in 25th scale. I found this site: Online Scale Converter Tool - Scale Modelers World greg

I know the wheelbase is shorter, but I’ll just leave it the same as the pickup, along with the radiator and hood.

I should find out how close to 1/64 that the Johnny Lightning one is.
