Mr. Can Am Garage Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Lindberg's kit painted Tamiya sprays gloss black over a Tamiya sprays maroon chassis. The bumpers were left off as that was the preferred look at the shop. There's a couple of spots that need to be polished and waxed on the passenger's side rear fender and I need to do a little work on the hood latch/buckle. FWIW, the kit came with whitewalls which just didn't suit me as right for such a sporting car. There's a couple of things to do under the hood like a touchup and putting the horns in.
fordh8r Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Nice build! Good call on the whitewalls, as well.
Rich Cummings Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Nice looking car. Where did Hank Jr. put his beer?
Modelmartin Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 It is amazing what the right builder can do for a kit that most people wouldn't look twice at. You did a great job - you obviously have some knowledge of what vintage cars are supposed to look like.

Mr. Can Am Garage Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Nice looking car. Where did Hank Jr. put his beer? That's not Hank Jr. but my shop manager Jackson. If ya got a shop, you've got to have people. If you've got people, you need a manager.
ismaelg Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Nice SSK! Looks very sporty. That's maybe how AMG may have done it back in the day Thanks,
Zoom Zoom Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Nice work John! Most people don't know that these Lindberg classics will yield very nice models with the right detailing. Any major issues with the kit? I had to fight chassis/engine stuff on my Bugatti Royale because the instructions were so poor (as was my familiarity with the subject).

There was a slight mismatch on how the driver's side rear fender was supposed to fit. I had to remove the locating pins to get it to fit. That's it. I was more than pleasantly surprised at the engineering of the kit given it's age.
