Scalefinishes Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I finished my second mustang. Special order color. "Playboy Pink" with a black interior. This was a good simple build. No issues with any of the parts fit or finish. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Jameston
fordh8r Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 While I'm not all too fond of the color, I'd have to say, the overall build is quite nice. Was there a particular reason in the color choice? Just curious.
Peter Lombardo Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 This really is a special color and build....Back in the day, Playboy magazine presented the Playmate of the Year, you know the "Cream of that years Crop" a pink car. It was a real forerunner of the Mary Kay Caddy's. I remember seeing one of these "Pink" cars back in the late 60's in our area and having an instant fantasy. Anyway, very nice redition....very clean. I am sure Hugh would approve.
Scalefinishes Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 Thanks for the feedback. I've had that 67 kit for years, always in my pile of kits, never getting built. It was going to be Eleanore, then a mild custom, then a radical custom, then custom wheels, maybe a spoiler......... I didn't want to build a just a straight stock GT. When I first heard of the color I laughed. But after I Googled it and learned a little about it, I was interested in what it really looked like. Then seeing it in person at the paint store I was sold. It's actually a really nice color. Something fun and definitely something different. Jameston
Peter Lombardo Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I really like what you did here. This very different and unique. I am in the process of finishing up a 1967 Mustang GT350. I am going the Eleanor route as you almost did, but I am putting my little twist on it. It is a conversion to Eleanor but with some of the current day Shelby GT dtyling que's. It will be pretty sharp, but I can't say that a Bunny drove it, or even sat in it like you can say.
george 53 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 You'll get used to that brite a pink color after you've seen about 20 of them rascals comin down the line! EVERY YEAR that I worked at Cadillacs, we'd run that years Caddy's in a group paint of "Mary Kaye" pink. She would give her top sellers of the year a NEW Pink Caddy. It came around the 1st of the year, and 25 pink Caddy's would be special paint code MK pink. It's the only way to get a pink Caddy from G.M. now. She owns the patient on the MK Pink color!
