Mike C. Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 I'm looking at TS-97 Pearl yellow but I'm not sure if it is indeed Pearl.
Dave Van Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 OMHO Tamiya has nothing real close to the color you want. The Tamiya pearls are VERY transparent and thus need and base off a color coat. I tried paint a car bright green then yellow and got a OK 'shelf model' match. Good luck!
1972coronet Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 GY3 shouldn't be difficult to find via Scale Finishes -- barring that, you can have an aerosol can of it made (that's what I did).
Oldcarfan27 Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 It's not Tamiya, but Krylon Citrus Green is a perfect match to Curious Yellow. To my eyes anyway. 1
Mike C. Posted September 27, 2022 Author Posted September 27, 2022 (edited) That will do perfectly. Thanks Patrick. I'm gonna assume that stuff is enamel. Will it work when sprayed over this primer? I already shot the body with this. Edited September 27, 2022 by Mike C.

The only issue I had was it kept drying a little gritty, so after it completely cured, I spent time color sanding it and polishing it out. Very durable and ended up becoming a gorgeous, smooth finish. I was proud of it until I tried to put the black billboards on the side, which were translucent and cracked. Then I tried to fix them which made it worse. Back into the box until I can figure out what can be done to it. But the color is excellent!!!
Mike C. Posted September 27, 2022 Author Posted September 27, 2022 Thanks, and I like the color also. Even on a non-Mopar. I hit it with the Tamiya white primer first, then followed up wit 2 coats of the Krylon citrus green, then finished off with the Krolon neon orange. I think I'll just clearcoat the whole thing tomorrow.
