DR Dubois Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 How do you guys paint in your red lines? I've heard some say they use the decals but I imagine if I have no decal solvent that could be difficult to do. And if you paint them on, what type of paint? Thanx for any help you can offer.
cruz Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 These are the Lindberg '66 Chevelle redlines on my Charger. Just dip some flat red enamel paint into the lines, wipe off excess with mineral spirits and that's it!!!! Of course, you have to make sure you have the Chevelle....
MrObsessive Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 You could always cheat and buy very nice resin redline tires from Norm Veber of Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland.

Lyle Willits Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Charlie Magers used red lines from Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md. on this Chevelle.
RodBurNeR Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I have redlines from the old AMT kits , but they will melt rims over time. I will still use them though hehe! You can also paint redlines with a compass. I am doing this "real time"...going to look for the link to how to, and will post it when I can find it.
RodBurNeR Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Well I can't remember who it was now...but they did a how to of redlines with a compass. You could do white walls or blue or gold also. (they were around) If I ever run across the link again I will let ya know... Bob Sifferd I think was the one that showed me.
DR Dubois Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 (edited) Thanx for the ideas guys. I would love to buy after market goodies of any kind, but my budget doesn't really allow for this. Plus I just build box stock for fun, so no competitions. awbcrazy if you find that how to I would love to learn more! Marcos you said you use enamels to do your lines? I thought enamels won't dry on the tires?! I've been using white acrylic for raised letters.... Those tires and rims you showed are awesome by the way! Edited January 29, 2009 by DR Dubois

You are right, enamels are never recommended for this application but since you are dipping paint into the crevice of the tire it will work!!!
DR Dubois Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 Lyle Thanx for the info. That is a great tip that I will definitely try. I already have a compass and nib so there's half the battle!!
Bryce Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 You can also use ‘gel’ pens and a circle template – have a look here: http://amcc.forum-motion.com/how-to-s-q-s-...ow-to-t1089.htm
DR Dubois Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 Thanx Bryce! Another great idea to try.
cotto Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I bought a few red lines from Replicas and they are gorgeous, best ones in the market. I will be using them on my Nova in conjunction with dog dishes.
