53gmc Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Bought this older peterbilt wrecker off of ebay. It wasnt as complete as i was lead to believe so i had to track down a new frame and suspension. Gonna build this one as a tractor and save the wrecker bed for a different build. I would like to save the paint on the cab and hood and finish the original builders vision to some degree 1
yh70 Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 U gotta look closely & ask questions when buying re-builders on eBay. 1
53gmc Posted November 8, 2022 Author Posted November 8, 2022 Got the drivetrain painted and built. Had to rob a piece or two out of the parts box. I will add some more detail and dirty it up next
53gmc Posted November 9, 2022 Author Posted November 9, 2022 Added some oil/rust stains, oil lines and wiring. 1
53gmc Posted November 12, 2022 Author Posted November 12, 2022 Got the interior built while i wait for the replacement frame and suspension. Luckily it was complete sans the steering column, so i robbed a replacement one from the parts box

53gmc Posted November 13, 2022 Author Posted November 13, 2022 (edited) After finding some instructions online, i discovered the wrecker bed was complete and decided to build the truck as such. Luckily the original builder had started on the bed and painted the beige part first. After carefully removing the old tape adhesive. I retaped the bed, cab, and hood sprayed the black, added the white pinstripes and cleared it. Edited November 13, 2022 by 53gmc More info 1

53gmc Posted November 15, 2022 Author Posted November 15, 2022 This is how the donor frame arrived lol

This is probably the worse ive ever gotten, maybe the "do not crush" all over the box was seen as some sort of micro-aggression or challenge?
53gmc Posted November 17, 2022 Author Posted November 17, 2022 Got the frame knocked and started assembling everything 1
53gmc Posted November 20, 2022 Author Posted November 20, 2022 Got this one finished, far from perfect but good enough for what basically started as a parts truck. According to scalemates, this kit was released around 1977, so theres a good chance that who ever started this did so before i was born. Box stock with the exception of decals, tires and rear wheel center caps, all from the parts box. 1
