LL3 Model Worx Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 (edited) I'm sure yall have seen the "3d" badges and emblems for ferraris and the like... But does anyone out there make them for Lambo? 1/24 scale I'm needing some. Edited November 9, 2022 by LL3 Model Worx
1972coronet Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 I was just thinking about those again lately. Been watching a YouTube channel wherein the builder builds many Tamiya kits (outstanding work at that). Their kits oftentimes have adhesive '3D' emblems for them, and they're awesome! Better than the cut-file-affix photoetch that're widely available! I wish that Revell, Round2, et al., would start including that setup in their kits... I'd be willing, for one, to pay a spank more for a kit which includes those '3D' emblems. Here's one of the videos with a Tamiya kit with those emblems (my word, this guy's craftsmanship is amazing!): 2
Dpate Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 (edited) This is what you're looking for but there out of stock. European Car Emblem Stickers (1:12, 1:18, 1:24, 1:43) Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini I think the hiroboy and alpha model resin kits come with them too, but that's pretty expensive just for an emblem. Bainford Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 I bought a set similar to these for Ferrari, Lotus, and Lamborghini a few years ago. Not sure if these are the exact ones I bought, but they look the same. They are like a self-adhesive metal transfer. The ones I bought look nice, but the 'metal' is very soft and easy to distort when cuttting from the fret, and the adhesive on the back is quite thick, like craft-store spray adhesives. I tried to remove the adhesive with lacquer thinner, but no luck. Other solvents may work, such as acetone, or maybe Goo-Gone. The scripts themselves look very nice. chrome(metal) decals Lambao B (Golden) 2153 | eBay chrome(metal) decals Lambao B (silver) 2153 | eBay 1

How I would love to see these scripts in other kits, and I would happily pay a bit more for it, too, if they are well done. In many cases, much better than PE. Unfortunately some kit makers are leaning the other way lately and replacing 3D scripts with miserably ineffective decals. Unless a kit is an absolute must-have (and with almost 600 in the stash, very few are these days), I won't buy it if the scripts are decals.

I don't mind the decals if their purpose is to be applied-over an existing, cast-in emblem. It's the decals-in-place-of-emblems that bother me (or, worse yet, side marker lamps). Just too toy-like and two-dimensional ! What makes those adhesive 3D emblems so nice is that they're applied like the 1:1 versions; similar to decals: adhesive backing with a clear, non-adhesive 'cover'. Easy peasy.

I was that way with interior tubs even though i have few kits with full interior tubs sigh. Doubt AMT or Revell will ever go the route like tamiya and other with metal transfers. Sucks buying a PE set for $15-20 for a script lol. 8 hours ago, 1972coronet said: I don't mind the decals if their purpose is to be applied-over an existing, cast-in emblem. You mean like tamiya and aoshima etc? i don't think they are colored, but they are nice metal transfers though. LOVE seeing them in japan kits, and i think even trumperter does them as well with some kits and there out of china. 1
LL3 Model Worx Posted November 10, 2022 Author Posted November 10, 2022 I've got some ferrari emblems that I got from a member here a couple years ago that are spectacular, I mean like ridiculously nice! Just don't know where they came from. I too would be down for paying extra to get good badges for sure!
