Mike C. Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 This one will never get old. I might take another crack at it. this time with a different color. Defiantly with another small block Chevy engine. the one from the Deserter GMC pickup works nicely. I also like to raise the suspension slightly by relocating the axels under the leaf springs like some like to do. I like that MPC now gives us 5 FDDs. these tires are very nice to work with. I do wish they would give us some more updated tube bumpers and full roll cage but I suppose we can do some scratch building. HPI Guy has a build of the newest re-issue of this kit now, 1
BuilderX Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Here is one I did years ago with a Chevy SB........... 1
1972coronet Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Do the earlier versions of this kit include the plain steel wheels as well ? The kit seems to be ostensibly a 1967 & earlier model (no side markers), with an OHV four (with what appears to be an OHV update to a side valve engine ?). I've never had a copy -- I'm quite interested in getting one this go'round.
Mike C. Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 This will be the 3rd version for me. Still doesn't get old Got some new wheels and goodies for this next one.
stavanzer Posted June 2, 2023 Author Posted June 2, 2023 John, I cannot speak to all versions, but mine had Steel Wheels. The engine in the kit is the Willy's "Hurricane F-134" Four Cylinder. This was the older flat head, with a new OHC "F-Head" to get more power. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willys_Hurricane_engine 1
Tom Geiger Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Since we have taken the thread to show and tell! Here are mine. Both started as junkers. Green one has a V8 and is 2WD. 3 1
