Well, I'm gonna get started on this one. My hobby room is a shambles still and atm I have nowhere to spray, as my paint booth did not survive the move and needs to be rebuilt.

Not sure how far I'll get but we're going to get started none the less.

Decals are from Powerslide (so are all the kit decals) but this Throwback scheme that ran at Darlington (Goodyear 400) is one of my favourites.

I'm off work today so I'll see how many of the sub assemblies I can get done before I have to figure out how I'm going to paint.

For now a quick shot of the starting point (please forgive the weird colour, the lights in this room are not great and have a yellowish  tinge.....I definitely need some new light bulbs.

Should have an update later on today.

Enjoy. it's a great kit to build once you get into it. Just make sure you don't install any parts upside down because some will install that way but will keep you from continuing if you don't go back and correct them. I'm mainly talking about the rear suspension. I'm working with the decals right now and some don't fit like the reference pictures of the real car show they should. If there are any panel decals that border any grille or headlight panel openings, make sure you install those first. I had to do some trimming to get some of the decals to fit, that I wouldn't of had to do, if I had done them in the correct order. Good luck.

Update...finally....

Chassis is mostly done. I decided not to paint the chassis as this one will be displayed with the body on and hood on. Being a Coke Zero drinker this is a favourite livery of mine so it'll be shown all buttoned up. Also, since moving I don't have a paint booth right now, as mine was trashed in the move, so no spray painting for me likely till after the New Year when I can build a new one.

Front and rear clips are attached to the main cage and the engine is installed. Engine is painted in Vallejo acrylics with Tamiya LP 61 for the exhaust. I also washed most of the parts that were hand painted with Tamiya panel wash.  The valve covers will be sprayed in black and a ECR decal from Powerslide added down the road. I still need to do some touch up painting and detailing but I can't find any of my nice fine brushes, they're packed away safely in a box....one of many still left to open.

I will spray the fuel cell top red once I get back to spray painting, as well as painting the rear deck in black, so those items are not attached yet, otherwise the chassis is almost done. I still have some bars on the interior to add but I'll get to those once I get the fire bottles painted.

The suspension is also done, and it too needs some clean up painting, as well as the exhaust. The floor that's currently under the chassis is from a different kit, cause the one from this kit is pretty badly warped and I just can't get it straightened out enough to be happy, so I'll use this one for now, but it is not fixed yet.

I got the tires done tonight and decaled up with some Goodies from Powerslide and the BBS decals still need to go on the wheels. Wheels were brush painted with Tamiya's LP 61 Metallic Grey and then the decals were covered with some Vallejo matte clear.  I also want to 3D print some airvalves to add in a bit more detail.

And finally, some shots with the wheels and tires on the chassis/pan with the body sitting ontop to check out the ride height....I"m pretty happy will how it sits right now.

That's all for tonight, time to watch a movie before bed.

Thanks for checking in.

Looking good. She's coming along quite nicely. Don't forget to put the seat decals on first before installing the seat it's a lot easier that way.
