Rudy Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I wasnt too sure about it when I first saw the caddy rear for a bed, as it was too wide and the line in the middle looked wierd. Now that you have narrowed it and shortened it, I love it!!! Dare to be different, that is what it is all about, 1:1 and otherwise....... I dig the straight 6, keep up the good work. Rudy
Dr. Cranky Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 Thanks, everyone. Okay, duelies . . . hum . . . I can try a few things and see what works best, sure.
CB Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Thanks, everyone. Okay, duelies . . . hum . . . I can try a few things and see what works best, sure. You can do it Virg. Yep, try 'em.........duelies, duallies .......see what works best. We all gots faith in the Doctor!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 Duellis, Duollis, duallis . . . there are definitely many different ways to skin a cat.
Harry P. Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Duellis, Duollis, duallis . . . there are definitely many different ways to skin a cat. Just don't get confused and use doilies!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 How did you know I was using a good pair of doilies as interior matts?
Dr. Cranky Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Here we go, some mock up shots of where Cranky is tonight on this thing.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 So far it is photographing well . . . The grill is not going to ride this low, of course . . .
Hillbilly Deluxe Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I like the duals!!! Is that gonna be a trunk or a bed in the back?
Dr. Cranky Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Thanks, HD. I think it is going to stay a trunk . . . I like the swoop down of the Caddy trunk. It's going to have a new bumper though . . . added to the existing one . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Here's the chassis with the suspension in place . . .
evilone Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Im not a fan of cutting up a caddy but this should be good bro.If i tell myself "its a custom caddy pick up old school style" i should be good LOL.
Joe Handley Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I love it, especially since you narrowed the bed. I'm digging the duallys, but why not dual, white walled Cheater slicks while you're at it!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 I realize I'm gonna have to try those . . . I want to have white walls in the back and not up front . . .
rv1963 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I like it looks much better now that you narrowed the cady rear and i to like the dual rear wheels, are you going to open the the trunk on the cady that would be really cool.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 These are all great things to think about. Of course, if I open the trunk, you know what it needs to be, right? Of course! What else? A cooler with cold beer!!! The jury is still out on the dualies . . . we'll see . . . Stay tuned in for some progress pics . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Here are my wheel and tire candidates so far. The dualy idea is still possible . . . I'm trying out different things, but I want the big/little combination to get a better raked stance to the whole thing . . . I'm also adding this little perfect touch to the rear bumper . . . you know, like a foot rest or mud scraper or something!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 I got the suspension finished . . .
ajulia Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 This is turning out to be really cool the idea is pretty wild Virg' The carry along cooler would be the ticket in the trunk.. as always' Keep on wit the keepin on!! peace Tito
Dr. Cranky Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Well, here's the trunk now . . . Instant ice box for all the beer. Some bottles and rock salt will finish this sucker off in due time . . .
rv1963 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) Well you answered my question about the trunk great idea the biggest cooler ever, i have one more question when you make your hinges are you using one piece of brass rod or 2 ? Edited February 5, 2009 by rv1963
Dr. Cranky Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 I am using one solid piece of brass tubing and then a piece of brass wire that goes inside . . . let me see if I can dig up the picture of the materials I use . . . hold on . . .
Harry P. Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Here's the set up I use: Geez, V... who's going to buy the cow if they can get the milk for free...
